Benavidez’s promoter Sampson Lewkowicz said in an interview with Dan Rafael at Fight Freaks Unite that the contest with Morrell (9-0, 8 KOs) is “agreed” for October or November for Showtime PPV.

They told Dan Rafeal it's on

Let's get to double digit wins first, buddy. Who in their right mind would risk their "0" against someone who's literally beaten nobody in the professional ranks?

Since it looks like Canelo is steering clear of Benavidez next and they always claim fighting Canelo is about challenge and not money, well here you have it. A challenge pretty much gift wrap for you to open. Adding this name to your resume puts even more pressure on Canelo so why not go for it. Will no other credible name out there, Morrell fight should be a no-brainer and he's out here barking them up the same way they do Canelo. This will tell us a lot about Benavidez and his father depending on what they do here.

And yet you acknowledge that it would be a high risk fight for Benavidez. I personally love this kind of talk among contenders. This is what they are supposed to do to become stars. Everybody hunting the guy ahead of them.

I don’t agree with Morrell’s trash talking. I think it’s very poor coming from someone with single digit wins and zero of those wins were over any decent fighters.

Time to stop awarding jackasses with fights just because they’re vocal. The disrespect is uncalled for, especially when Morrell hasn’t done jack sh/t in boxing. Benavidez resume isn’t all that either but he has done more.

Morrell has been awarded with the #4 spot at 168 by The Ring AND TBRB, was awarded the WBA REGULAR title vs someone I would have to boxrec to type their name, and is being hyped up way too much by a small group of fans. All while doing nothing to deserve any of that.

Not a fan of Benavidez whatsoever, not even one bit, but i’m way less of a fan of fighters who just want to come into boxing and ask for and get handouts for no apparent reason.

True, after you worked your way up to it by fighting other top contenders, beating actual names, etc, the lower level contenders in The Ring/TBRB. The low reward guys.

Mayweather didn’t call out DLH, Mosley and Gatti when he was 9-0. He first fought other top contenders like Manfredy, Corrales, Hernandez, Chavez, Castillo 2x. Then he called out the money makers, the guys who would give him that PPV fight he had been craving for. DLH and Mosley turned him down, yes, but Gatti, then #1 ranked by The Ring at 140, and WBC champion, gave him a shot and it was Mayweather’s first PPV. Even then, before he got DLH and Mosley’s attention, he had to fight other top contenders Judah and Baldomir to show his worth. At 30 years old, after all that work, finally DLH fought him and Mosley started calling him out.

Now you got guys like David Morrell wanting to skip the line and win the lottery at 9-0 with an unworthy resume.

Do you prefer that? You don’t even want to see Morrell vs low tier contenders first? You think he just deserves the top money guys of the division? What about Morrell vs Dirrell, Ryder, Plant, Parker? He could just skip the line and get a big payday because he talked his way into some fans hearts?

40k posts in a boxing forum and you still don't understand the difference between agreed and signed. Christ.

If Benavidez does not fight him its not a duck because Morrell is literally a nobody and not in line. A duck is when the guy has earned the shot not just a call out from a rookie.
