Prime versions at that weight, Tommy was 23, Floyd would have been 32. That's a well seasoned Floyd vs a green Hearns. Just sayin...
Agreed. Fight probably looks a more competitive version of Hearns vs Wilfred Benitez.

Hearns by decision. In spite of popular belief, Mayweather is not an easy KO. Because of his defense Mayweather would he difficult to knock out much like Wilfred Benitez was for Hearns. But Hearns, jab, reach, and power would force Mayweather to be more defensive than offensive leading to a comfortable decision win for Hearns.

It’s the way he beat him though too. He conclusively stopped him. Hearns also fought a really smart fight tactically as well.

Duran beating SRL in Montreal is obviously an ATG win too. That’s what made that era so special. Multiple great wins/fights.

Hearns wasn’t green at all at 23. That’s nonsense tbh man.

Hearns is far too gifted physically for Mayweather. Floyd can’t walk him down like Ray did. He’d get knocked out early if he tried to.

Ok that fair but I still like Duran going up from LW to beat the best boxer in the world at the time.

            True.

Yeah there’s a plausible argument for both.

Floyd never beat a fighter as good at welterweight as prime Benitez let alone prime Hearns. Unless you want to count Ricky Hatton

Threads a non starter. Floyd don't fight prime ATGs.

Has he beat a prime hall of famer at welterweight? Unless they felt sorry for Zab Judah, or rolled Ricky Hatton in there. I thought he would have, given the amount of paper champs he cherrypicked er I mean fought
