he is a casual fans fighter... looks great all them names on his record, all them belts, maybe even a cruiserweight one then you realise his best wins on paper were either robbery wins or fighters well past their sell by date and that he has been avoiding certain types of fighters for years that dont match up well for him style wise...he is probably the best marketed/promoted fighter ever considering how much moneyhe has earned as really in terms of ability he is just a decent solid world level fighter, nothing special at all as you saw against bivol and mayweather who made him look like a complete bum... every weight division in boxing has fighters at least equal or above canelos ability

If he was a punching bag and a much bigger elite fighter cant get him out of there it says something about the much bigger fighter.

Canelo is not a 175 guy, so mentioning much bigger fighters is not a fair deal, at 168, he has a good shot at beating DB or Charlo so Id say Canelo is not quite the punching bag some make out.

Exactly, I've been calling out this marketing gimmick for years. First Mayweather did it, then Canelo followed and now it's looks like Tyson Fury might be getting in on that action by not fighting Usyk.

BodyBagz will tell you, now that Canelo still hasn't fought the guys you've been asking him to fight for years, you're also suddenly moving the goal post by continuing to ask him to fight them instead of just praising him for another fight you didn't ask for and don't care about. That's his logic and such loyalty comes in part from this silly marketing gimmick used to inflate a fighters legacy.

Canelo is a good fighter, not great. He's more of a "right time, right place, right ethnicity" fighter who, because of this, made tons of money and keeps repeating the formula and will KEEP repeating the formula into his twilight years.
