Comments Thread For: Prograis: Lopez Got Terrible Money For Taylor Fight, Can Make 10 Times More To Fight Me

Wasn’t that Tel last fight under TR? If so, he’s in a good position to secure decent minimum per fight. If money is his main priority, Matchroom would be his best option.
Regis is one of my favorites, but the math ain't mathin;. There is no way a fight with Teo results with Lopez getting $10 mil. That matchup is still a purist/hardcore fan match-up that won't draw fringe/casual viewers. Secondly, you know Teo is going to call himself the A side (rightfully so), so unless Regis is flat out saying he'll take a 60/40 split up front, then the fight won't even happen. I can see Teo making somewhere between $2-$5 million for the fight, but $10 is just reaching.
As much as I like Prograis he does not have a fan base and he doesn't generate that much money in his fights. He is already up there in age and would have to rack some serious wins to make big money. He has had a decent paying career.
He's not any kind of draw. I live in New Orleans and only hardcore fight fans know him here; even with that dumb chest tattoo. I don't think his status is much different in Houston.
