thats not crazy at all i had him winning 8 rounds last time i watched it. what is sketchy is a judge seeing he has a close scorecard and giving the last round that hopkins dominated to taylor just so taylor can win. not sure how you can take a decision seriously when such blatant cheating has occurred.Comment

Even Hopkins doesn't understand how boxing is scored. In that postfight interview, he says he deserved to win because he did more damage. Larry Merchant had to explain to him that whoever wins more rounds wins the fight. I honestly think some of the Hopkins fans in this thread don't even know how to score a fight.Four years later and people are still whining about the scorecards in this fight.
For people to stand up and defend a guy who was virtually inactive the first 7 rounds of the fight, for losing a close decision, even if he did land similar numbers in a couple of the rounds, just does not compute with me.
Hopkins doesn't deserve any defenders for his performance in this fight. If he wanted to win it and believes he is the more masterful fighter, he should've made a more convincing argument for himself. He didn't. Then, taking what he knew from the first fight into the rematch, he should've put on a performance that left no doubt in the minds of the judges. He failed, again. End of.
And I admire Hopkins skills and ring generalship as much as the next guy, but c'mon... don't take rounds off against a younger, flashier, and more active fighter, and then ***** about the ****ing outcome. Defense may win championships in football but it doesn't win **** on a boxing judge's scorecard.
Flame away.
Hopkins won round 5 and then 9-12 clearly. That's 5 rounds. There were no other rounds he could have won. 7 rounds to 5 = a loss.Comment

which 8 rounds did Hopkins win? I gotta hear this. if you're gonna say he got robbed, pull out your scorecard and tell us right now. otherwise, you're just talking ****. get your scorecard from the fightthats not crazy at all i had him winning 8 rounds last time i watched it. what is sketchy is a judge seeing he has a close scorecard and giving the last round that hopkins dominated to taylor just so taylor can win. not sure how you can take a decision seriously when such blatant cheating has occurred.Comment

i don't keep a scorecard all i know is taylor didn't dominate the first half like you believe. hopkins was sneaking in good solid punches in between taylor's air punches.Last edited by daggum; 09-30-2009, 09:13 PM.Comment

hopkins easily won the 7th round. taylor landed no clean punches the entire round and hopkins landed 2 big right hands that shook taylor. seems like your scorecard is crumbling as we speak. exposing haters 1 at a time.Even Hopkins doesn't understand how boxing is scored. surprised it wasn't gale van hoy. duane was obviously on the take and got paid off or is just too incompetent to judge anything if he thought taylor won the 12th. either way he's a loser. i think the judges should stand in the ring and announce their scores after the fight so the crowd can throw things at them.Comment
