He definitely comes across delusional but I don’t think he’s mentally damaged or anything. I don’t think his dad is a positive influence, he could use a little more reality in the corner.
I think too much is being made about Teo's mental state - I watched the whole interview on fighthub and i was specifically looking for signs of mental issues. But he is a young man who is more coherent than most boxers (when else do you see boxers speak for a whole 25 minutes) some others cant even speak for a minute without sounding ******, of course there were bits where he sounded incoherent. He maybe has an ego issue, but haven't we read boxers almost have to think they are the best until proven otherwise? And lastly it seems he is a devoutly religious so that straight away makes him sound different but I can deal with that and make sense of it.
I think the bigger issue is the boxing side not the supposed mental issues

I believe you are correct about the ego issue, he and his father! A divorce can put you in a weird headspace, from what I’ve seen with my friends. I’ve been married 20 years and I’m not sure I’m stable .

Does +400 give us any additional multiplier on Derevyanchenko? I might be tempted to go with the underdog if that’s the case. I think it’ll definitely be competitive but as you suggested the well might be running a little dry for Sergiy in his late 30’s after several tough fights.Comment

Yes there will be a multiplier available. Plus use of any available…

For "mental issues", one has to consider the whole of it all. In a nutshell, external problems usually impact a fighter's performance negatively, and Teo has many of them. "Mental" might just refer to keeping the focus switched on for a whole fight, not necessarily that he's mad. I do feel that he did look much more focused until the Loma fight, his boxing was better overall. After that, he started to unravel in many senses.

On the other hand, as I posted in another thread, my lingering doubts are on Taylor. I don't forget his alcohol-related issues not too long ago, and if he does have this problem ongoing, that would justify his decline (as evidenced by the Catterall fight).
My pick is based on the idea that Taylor had an off-night in his last fight. If he is at his best, and Teo is not as it seems, then Josh might knock him out. But if Taylor, too, is on the slide, it could be a very different fight, even a draw if you ask me.Comment
