Diaz, and his manager Willie Savannah, were unhappy with the presented terms and turned down the fight. The two main issues were the money and the weight. From what I was able to find out, Diaz was going to make a little less than what he had earned for the August fight with Malignaggi. He wanted to make more. They were not happy about the proposed weight of 140-pounds. They wanted the fight to take place at 138.5; the same catch-weight as the August bout. [details]
lol Paulie's never beat the **** out of anything..

He jabbed Diaz to death yeah, circled him to death yeah. lol But that's as close to looking that good Paulie's gonna get. Fighting a smaller guy who just comes forward. So in that sense, I can see why Paulie's pissed off...lol Because he can't really beat anyone else.

And if he had an ounce of intelligence, and confidence, he'd give all the advantages to Diaz again. Juan's obviously outclassed bein the smaller guy who only knows how to come forward. That all plays directly into Paulie's only skill set, which is jab and circle. He could have given Diaz's camp everything they needed, and Juan would still have problems fighting at 140.

Diaz needs to get his fat ass in shape and down to 130 where he belongs. Great lightweight fighter, but would not be any good at 140. Too small.
      Gentleman,

Am I the only one growing a tad weary of Paulie's sense of entitlement?

I am as big a Malignaggi apologist as you'll find. But the reality is that Paulie is most famous for his losses, and for working a microphone. I understand that you have to strike while the iron is hot. But did you see the stinkers that he unveiled vs Hatton, Ngoudjo, and Ndou?

C'mon, P. Fight one of the zillion guys at 140. And please stop whining.

Diaz is a *****?? Why didn't Cotto rematch Clottey then?? That's right, he went after the money in Pac. You can't expect Diaz to get the same.

A TOP fighter like manny and Floyd. Or a mid-career guy. A beltholder/contender?

If I was a top guy, i would be a free agent like Floyd. Just hire promoters on a fight-t-fight basis.

If I was still on the come-up, i would sign with GBP. Golden boy secures the most HBO dates, and HBO pays FAAAAR greater license fees than Showtime.

Why don't you take Juan Urango's 140 belt at the Hard Rock in South Florida where he fights and then go on the co-feature to Juanma-Gamboa in the Garden during Puerto Rican Weekend and fight Zab Judah for the battle for Brooklyn. I belt and then I nice payday for a sold out Garden for your new 140 belt. Sounds like a way to get your name back in the mix to me.

are clottey, cotto and pacquiao not all on top rank? so the reason there was no clottey rematch is because clotteys promotor didn't wan't it he wanted to make more money in a manny-miguel fight

Well there is Hatton at 140 (though I think he should go back down to 135). There is plenty of fights for him at 135. From Funeka, Valero(who can fight in TX), Reyes, rematch with JMM, etc.

And the same cannot be applied to a Hatton/Diaz match who both happen to be with GBP??
