a win over PBF would've put him on the road to being the next JCC of Mexico.
      but that has stopped.
he's still a great fighter to me.

I have to admit..... and don't crucify me for this, OK?

Seeing Marquez fight did take the bloom off the JMM rose for me. Just a little bit.

I'm left to wonder if Marquez is just able to dominate that Mexican style (Morales/barrera/diaz/etc), but would always struggle with sharp fundamentals. I can't help but wonder if Zaheer Rahim (Zahir Raheem?) would do the same to JMM that he did to Erik. I would have like to see a younger Kevin Kelley vs JMM. Or a prime Casa.

I saw JMM struggle with Casamayor, but everyone looks bad with Joel. He has that tricky soutpaw stance and many dirty tricks. But going back and looking at it, I see Marquez throwing his punches kinda wide. I see him unable to cut off a ring (Arreola-esque). I see him unable to apply aggression when needed.

And some fans say that "Floyd was bigger, and that's the reason that....". But what is the excuse for the longer-reach guy throwing the shorter punches? What is the reason for the taller guy actually ducking UNDER the punches from the shorter guy?

In my mind, Floyd did 'expose' Marquez somewhat. Is there anybody reasonable and unbiasd who doesn't think FMJ would beat JMM at any weight? JMM is a great fighter... but there are levels of great.

I also felt this way after MAB-Hamed...and after PBF-Gatti.

Is that the same "hooker cut" that FMJ dropped Gatti with in Round 1?

This is boxing. It is the most unforgiving sport of all time.
