While, I commend Claressa Shields on all of her boxing achievements, contributions, and milestones she has made for women's boxing. However, Women's boxing has a long way to go before it catches up to men's boxing.

Men's modern day boxing under the Marques of Queensberry rules have been around since 1867. The only reason why women's boxing is more popular today than it has been in years past is because boxing is no longer a main****** sport; Especially stateside.

Holy hell, the sheer hate in this thread. While I understand that Davis and Canelo are bigger draws because they a-)have some spectacular KOs on their ledger and 2-)have a track record for PPV's, I'm sure what she's saying here is more to generate attention and give the press the sound-bite they're always looking to publish. Such a shame she doesn't get more love in the states because she can fight. She just doesn't have anybody to push her. And Savannah Marshall wasn't all that, Claressa wasn't ever in trouble.

Having said that, I'd wager that Shields' accomplishments are nothing at ALL to scoff at as I'm sure nobody on these forums (much less this thread) has probably even fought a four rounder in their life.

Katie Taylor is a pioneer of women's boxing in Ireland, an Olympic gold medallist, undefeated, and a soon to be two weight division undisputed champion.

Claressa DOES have a case of probably being the greater fighter among women's boxing, though. She just doesn't have a country behind her the way Ireland comes out in droves for Katie. But Claressa DOES have two Olympic gold medals, is also still undefeated, undisputed in two weight classes, and unified in a third.

It's only Claressa, Katie, and Amanda...and then everyone else. And I love Amanda for those 7 division titles, but she is a distant third when compared to those two.

Women don't even watch women's sports! Stop trying to compare and compete with men's sports because it's never going to be even.

Claressa is absolutely the face of women's boxing today, even with only 2 knockouts. She's the best around. Ann Wolfe was the sh.t, she could knock ur brains out, ask Vonda Ward. Lucia Rijker was skill, precision and power, Christy Martin was all business, she got straight to the point, I love her, we took a picture together, she was so warm and friendly, I saw Laila Ali at the Turning Stone. When she walked out from the dressing room, I was standing overhead looking down. She made my heart stop, she was so beautiful. I remember looking at her face, her skin, her physique, I started fantasizing right on the spot, I had to dig myself and come back to reality. The best heavyweight ever is Sonya Lamonakis!!!!

Firstly, let’s correct this screwed up article once again by saying she’s defending in Detroit which isn’t her home town, but not far away from Flint where the then Governor knew about the poison in the water but escaped prosecution as they all do. Shields is good for trying to gain attention to woman’s boxing however it lacks talent and participation and hasn’t become main****** and may never will but theirs some changes that need to take place for it to become even close to mens boxing such as increasing the round time and you may see more knockouts and allow woman to develop before putting them on tv, it’s a big turn off to see them punching and not looking or knowing what a counter punch is. Shields is good for boxing and making sure their paid equal, although there not ready just yet!

Complete delusion. Its clearly Canelo, the most popular boxer right now.

No singular boxer is the face of boxing, there is a list of the very best boxer's in their division, but no man is an island.
Canelo is the cash cow of boxing plain, and simple, and you're not the face of boxing Claressa, your just a dominant female champion.
