And the "if they can do better" comment is played out. This is a message board for fans. Nobody ever claimed to be a better fighter than Ortiz. But as fans we deserve better than a GBP hype job to steal prime television dates and quit in the process.

You sound like the guy who probably got picked on by the bullies.
You take none of the stuff I said about Ortiz into consideration... You should really watch the interview with him they did a few weeks after the fight... He said he was not even in the right state of mind at the end of the fight from the knock downs, he didnt even know they went 6 rounds... He apologized to his fans, and understood he has to redeem himself in the ring, and even reached out to Maidana for a rematch... So why keep ****ting on this kid everytime his name is mention? Now that's just being an idiot

No freaking way his wrist was shattered. He wouldn't have been able to put on a glove if that was the case.

I like Vic, dont get me wrong, but.............

If Maidana is co-promoted by GBP then you know there must be something going on if they cant make the fight happen.
Do they really believe in him? Do they think he will quit again if the tough gets going? Maidana cant be making more $ anywhere else than he did against Ortiz. And a rematch would definitely make them more, at least a lil bit more........hmmmmmm, Sounds fishy

My comments were directed at the interview noted by the thread starter. Lets stay on topic. Blind defense isn't needed here.

Thats a bunch of silly excuses.

At a similar age and a similar amout of Fights, Cotto faced unknown Comlombian Power Puncher Ricardo Torres. Cotto was getting beating up way more than what Ortiz was getting beat up and he didnt quitt. he stayed in the fight, and with guts and heart came through and won.

Not to mention that Cotto was weight drain and a week prior to the fight or so, his wife discovered that he had a girl with another women, and he was on a very emotional state of mind.

Ortiz Quitting is unnacceptable, because the first minute he tasted, thing werent going his way he quitted

100% agree! This is the point I have been trying to make.

No nothing is fishy about it... Maidana doesnt want the fight and he's smart for not taking and I can't knock him for not taking it... Cause Maidana is going to be the mandatory for Amir Khan early next year, so why would he risk that to fight a very dangerous fight in Ortiz... He everything to loose and nothing to gain in beating Ortiz again

Get real, he has no heart and an average chin. He won't even make it past Bradley, his best chance is to wait for Mosley, Cotto & co. to retire and then try to dominate a talenteless WW division, while praying that someone good doesn't show up.
