Canelo versus Ryder does a little over 200,000 pay-per-view buys

According to a legendary Matchmaker Rick Glaser the fight barely did over 200k buys. That is absolutely terrible. It is not a good sign for boxing. Now this fight was intended to be a tune-up and so these kind of fights have never generated big pay-per-view sales. That is why if you want to be a cash cow you have to fight top fights where people do not know the result of the fight.

    this was a terrible match-up.
Even if you're taking a tune-up. Why not take on an American or Latino fighter?

Imagine taking on a british scrub that nobody cares about. Who advised him to take this fight?

I think we all knew it would not do big numbers being it was a tune up in mexico...a few years back that fight would have been on HBO or showtime but now everything is ppv.

People will buy fights they want to see, Ryder was considered an easy beat and not a name fighter, that's not what people will pay high prices for.

It was a WBO mandatory defence, you idiot.

If you don't know what a mandatory defence is, look it up.

No surprise. It was a fight that didn’t really derive any interest.
