“Bozy” Ennis To Train Andy Cruz

Word is, it’s official: “Bozy” Ennis is to train Andy Cruz for his first professional fight. Could be a good match, as Cruz’s style needs to be brought up to pro standards quickly. “Bozy” is welterweight contender Jarod Ennis’s (30-0) father and trainer.

Interesting choice. Has Bozy ever trained anyone besides his son?

A Cuban boxing source on Facebook put it up. I’ve always known them to be reliable.

Let's hope this works out but other than Mayweather sr and Papa Chenko, most father trainers aren't too effective with fighters outside their own son.

He trained three sons: Jarod, Farrah and Derek “Pooh” Ennis. The last two had decent but unremarkable careers. I don’t know if Bozy has trained anyone else of note.

Boxeo Cubano? It's a bad choice. We have Rubio, Reynoso, Salas, all Spanish speaking trainers that can communicate better, on less I'm missing something, like Cruz speaks English or ennis speaks Spanish. Even Shields is a better option than ennis.

Yes, BC. I don’t know how Hearn came up with Ennis, but that’s who he’s going with — for now, at least. I’m not a fan of Shields, BTW.

Me neither, but a least has some experience with Cubans, like Lara and Morrell. Definitely not the best choice, ennis. Let's see what happens.

Normally, it isn't a promoter's responsibility to meddle with their fighter's training team. What is the connection between Hearn/Bozy when Boots isn't even a Matchroom fighter?
