Eddie Hearn, promoter of John Ryder, was proud of his boxer's performance against Mexican superstar Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez. Ryder withstood some big shots and dramatic moments to reach the final bell against Canelo, before a crowd of 50,000 at Akron Stadium in Mexico.

I respect Ryder`s toughness, but Canelo clearly lost his step. It was a a good fight, actually.

I imagine it's more that he held his own, despite the one sided nature. He was throwing till the last bell with arguably one of the best pound for pound right now. Canelo has a solid chin and good defence so many others will struggle with Ryder. I think everyone is just glad he didn't just come for a paycheck and looked like he was trying to win the fight till the end.

The event was full of razzmatazz and fireworks before the bell. The fight was predictable with brave Ryder taking his beating well, even grabbing a round or two towards the end but Canelo v Ryder @1/16 on we knew the result before the bell.

Ryder is a tough fight for anyone.
He has no quit and will keep coming.

He's not the prettiest boxer, and he lacks that killer power needed, so it's easy to score against him, but nobody comes out of a Ryder fight feeling it was easy.

well done Ryder gutsy performance to stick in there. On Canelo he is a million to beat Bivol on that showing, did he underestimate John or has he lost a beat?

World class?? LOLLL Typical British garbage..

Ryder was beaten like a step child, Canelo is washed up. World class guy gives Canelo serious problems..

Enjoy keep shoveling this bs Hearn, flopped PPV numbers for sure.

World class is a massive reach as he was outclassed but John showed why he’s one of the most likeable fighters in the UK. Toughness, heart, desire, determination. A lot of fighters would’ve stayed down in that 5th round.
