Zepeda fighting the competition he did last week wouldn't constitute a "higher standard"
Why are Mexicans held to higher standards than the rest?

Because to Mexicans at least, he is one of the best talents the country has currently produced, the spotlight is on Canelo since there aren't any contemporary top talents besides Juan Francisco Estrada who he himself hasn't been that active himself as of lately. We have to remember Canelo had fought over 60 fights and has moved up multiple divisions while doing so, he might be declining now at the same age that Chavez did.Last edited by Malvado; 05-07-2023, 02:20 AM.Comment

Just tell your guy to go back fighting the big names in the sport and in his division so I can become a fan of his again. Hell, you are his biggest fan and even you didn't purchase this pay per view tonight against Ryder because it was pointless. It was a foregone conclusion that Alvarez would win because his opponent was handpicked.Comment

Ok, you said that Canelo is fighting champion after champion in the weakest division in boxing 168 and yet this pay per view flopped and I hope that Matchroom and DAZN lost a fortune on it for overpaying Alvarez.
The irony...
You say all this dumb shit, while Canelo is the only active boxer fighting champion after champion and has the most wins over full champions in all avitve boxer CVs.
Let me guess you Rep. Crawford, GGG, or Tank? How does your statement hold up to their opponents and resume...
"That's why you are all content, satisfied and enjoy him smashing up these cherrypicked, limited and overmatched Euro bum fighters with no chance of defeating him."
That is where the standards are different... While Canelo is actually doing something and picking off champion by champion. You have dumbasses like Tank claiming they are the face of boxing after KO-ing Instagram barely a contender crap resume Ryan. And you morons accept it lol.
It would be very lucky to have reached the 300K range. Whereras, Gervonta Davis just came off a win again an undefeated opponent and sold more than 1.4M PPVs and over $23M at the live gate in the process.
Now let's see if Canelo fight tonight tops that one fanboy.Comment

You enjoy and praise guys who twirl, clinch, run, jab rinse and repeat for 12 rds?

Standard? he might not stand the whole fight vs Bivol this time. There wont be a rematch clause an extra check for Bivol to back off this time when he has him pinned on the ropes. e is going to give Canelo a Barrera level beating in the rematch. $200 million for the PBC chumps and he thinks he is going to keep the fight close enough to Bivol so they rig the cards for a win.Comment

What? Tank doesn't twirl? He like to hit; Just ask King Ry? That's why he sells out arenas everywhere he fights. Gervonta Davis is 100x more popular among casuals and exciting to watch than Clenelo Alvarez

But didn't AJ get pretty much the exact same treatment with Franklin? And why are you bringing nationality in to it? Would it be fair to say all Brits are held to a higher standard because of the criticism that AJ got? Makes no sense.Comment

Canelo is held to a fair standard. Very good boxer. Top name in the sport.
He has lost to his 3 best opponents, by a wide margin, in the opinion of most fans, despite what the judges scores are.
I think that is why he is expected to destroy a lesser fighter like Ryder. Had he defeated Bivol or GGG like this, I don’t think people would be critical.Comment
