In prime, who is the better fighter, COTTO or VARGAS????

cotto will beat pac by tko. how anyone see this fight as being competitive or pac having a chance to win is beyond me. but back to the thread.

I have always heard that winky schooled vargas and until I saw the fight I believed it to be true. Since I have seen the fight I know for a fact their was no schooling. Winky could have gotten the decision but he didnt that night in a very competitive fight.

The vargas that showed up against winky, quartey, in my eyes had more skills in the ring than cotto.

the vargas that showed up against mosely, mayorga of course would get destroyed by cotto.

but i would say prime for prime vargas was better but sadly his prime or the best he had to offer to boxing was a very short period.

Thats what i am trying to say. finally a person with common sense. Vargas could have been ATG if he waited longer to fight the elites. Imagine a young Vargas fighting an older Tito and DLH. I think he would have been able to pull it out. Cotto at 22 would have been sent to the hospital badly by Tito.

Vargas had back problems so I am not sure if they would have waited on taking on top challenges, he would have fared any better.

Vargas main problem is that he would gain so much weight in between fights.

but i hear your noise none the less a young cotto at 22 would have not been able to get much done against tito.

Cotto, no question. Vargas couldnt beat ODLH roided up in his own division, and got embarrased by shane. Cotto on the other hand only lost to a known cheater, defeated shane, andis a 2 weight world champion. Clottey is a welterweight and mannys a lightweight, for those who say "Vargas wouldv destroyed Clottey and Pacquiao" VARGAS is a 154lber he should destroy those guys. Cotto is a WW Vargas is a JMW lets leave it at that.

Vargas was a 154lb fighter, Cotto started at 140 and is now at 147. Cotto has better boxing skills than Vargas, Vargas has the better chin, better power and heart. If the Vargas that fought Tito or Ike were to have fought Cotto..Vargas would of KO'ed Cotto I dont think it would of gone past 7rds to be honest. Remmember Vargas beat Winky Wright and Ike Quartey..when they were in there prime.
