Yeah shakur is a proper high level technician an even tho tank himself has a better boxing brain then people use to give him credit for I think shakur in terms of boxing IQ is a step ahead but that's not always something that will get you the win but it's a big factor in that fight an I think it's one of the most interesting fights to make at 135lbs. Garcia athletic good puncher etc but he just didn't have that boxing brain an being able to able to adapt or stick to a gameplan but shakur does have that even if the gameplan means making the fight not that interesting an just winning rounds. I think goes to 140 for his next fight later in the year but after that then why not make it for this time next year an have another big fight in boxing

Well Davis of course. But if you talk in a P4P sense it's probably close. Just a division makes a huge difference. Teo is struggling at 140 but wiped out lightweights. Loma struggles at 135 but had guys quitting on their stools at 126 and 130. Danny Garcia, devil at 140, not so much at 147. Jermall a beast at 154, not at 160.
That's why punchers hang out for as long as possible at a weight until they can't anymore. Whereas as pure boxers can still hang at higher weights.
Canelo is an exception as he is still getting KOs at 168. Pac was a massive exception. Floyd went from pretty boy to Money May as he had do - very few KOs at 147.Last edited by SteveM; 04-29-2023, 06:59 PM.Comment

140 will be his ceiling just like it was for Broner. Davis is by far the superior boxer to Broner but they both have similarities in how long they stayed at lower weight. I just think bigger dudes will take his power better. Same as it was for Broner.Comment

I think thats completely wrong. Mayweather & Pernell are exceptions. The vast majority of guys that successfully stepped up weights were heavy punchers. Duran, Arguello, Hearns, SRL (people forget how scary hard Ray hit at 147, I swear I thought he'd killed Dave 'Boy' Green), McCallum, RJJ. Go back right to the start, Fitzsimmons, Langford, Mickey Walker, all heavy punchers. Armstrong hit like a MoFo at 126. Basically, if you have great skills but not much power at your weight & you move up to a higher weight what is to stop the bigger men just rolling over you like a truck? You have to have truly exceptional skills, speed & distance. If you have concussive power at your weight & you move up to a higher weight then you probably won't keep getting KOs (although Hearns did) but you have enough pop to keep your opponents respectful.Comment
