He did - 3 times. Will Joshua by becoming the biggest draw in the sport? He didn't- he lost 3 times to lesser lights. Will Ruiz Jr? - He didn't, he ate his way out of it. Will Usyk? He might yet but he's gotta show something more than just having AJ’S number because those silly belts no longer are important at heavyweight.
