definitely wont do as good. Different vibe. One of the draws of Tank-Garcia was people pretty much assumed it wasnt going the distance. That adds excitement and interest to a promotion.

But public perception of Haney is he is pretty much just going to throw 900 jabs, clinch 30 times a round, and do his best to stink out the place.

Loma and Haney dont have the swag, for lack of a better term, that Tank and Ryan have. Neither will sell the fight like Tank and Ryan did.

They are more skilled boxers for sure. Had this fight been at a time when boxing occupied a bigger part of the sports hierarchy, it definitely would imo.

Boxing is now lumped together as *combat sport* ala mma and wrestling. If boxers dont show charisma or swag like the people in those sports, they can’t generate the same sales.

Haney’s style imo matters to older fans. Not the younger ones, who liked watching Floyd who people accused of being boring.

I dont know about that. Obviously I wasnt around then, but I suspect that Marciano sold alot more tickets than Willie Pep. IMO there are 3 things that REALLY help sell tickets:

1. KOs. Most people want to see a definitive outcome. And most fans dont have the discipline to enjoy a rigondeaux, andrade, haney, etc type fighter
2. Playing the "heel". (Mayweather perfected this. Got people to buy PPV on the hopes that he would be KOd)
3. Character - (Camacho, Hamed, etc)

I would have mentioned "national pride", but its seems that only Mexico and Puerto Rico demonstrate any type of significant support along those lines

Im certainly no boxing revenue historian or anything. This is just my opinion.......

Damn haters are all over this. Boxing fans are the worst.

That number was likely fueled mostly by casuals. Hardcore fans don’t give a fck about this sport, most probably streamed it.

ANY ppv that does over 400k is fueled by casuals. It has always been that way.

Very impressive pay-per-view numbers. Surprisingly good, considering that one fighter is not really elite and that proven, and the winner is.

I wonder if Fury-Usyk, Fury-Joshua and Crawford-Spence, if ever happened, could beat 1.2m ppv s.

Crawford Spence would be the only one that has a shot of cracking a million buys, but I think they waited too long and alot of folks have lost interest in the fight.

Plus it would be a pretty boring promotion, as neither guy can really "sell" it.....

I'm pretty confident in saying that Spence/Crawford does NOT hit a million.

Fury/Usyk and Fury/Joshua may do that in the UK but definitely nowhere near that stateside.

Canelo/Benavidez is the other fight that can hit a million right now. All others I just don't see happening.

I know Rolly.. he knows Ryan is his biggest payday.. he just did an interview yesterday talking about how they’re fight will be the biggest.. two trash talking Latinos with America behind them. No rehydration nonsense included.

He also said Ryan has a long way to go to get a Tank rematch, which is funny to me, because he thinks all he has to do is beat Barroso, and he gets it! If those two feel their fight was a guaranteed success, they should've fought each other instead of chasing Tank...just to get KO'd anyway!

Screaming A doesn’t sell PPV’s.. that has been proven.. ask Fury-Wilder how that worked out numerous times for them.

They sell more PPVs than Ryan Garcia, that's for sure!
