That sounds great, in theory. But that doesn't fully describe the Garcia/Davis situation. I think Garcia has been trying to find the safest route to a Davis fight for a long time now. He had Haney, Linares, and Jojo Diaz on his menu and decided not to fight them, for whatever reason he could conjure. Regardless if it's Garcia or GBP's fault, Ryan has skipped steps in his development process in order to get the biggest money fight possible. Ryan agreed to all of Davis' stipulations so he could eventually use them to excuse his performance. He also agreed to remain inactive for 9 months under coercion by PBC. Does all of this sound like a fighter who cares about winning? In the ring, Ryan looked like exactly what we know he is: an inexperienced unproven contender who relies heavily on his physical attributes. When he got hurt in the final round and took a knee, he didn't even have the dignity to try beating the 10 count. Garcia had already gotten what he came for: a multi-million dollar purse. There was no need to pretend anymore. Winning wasn't the primary objective.

Tank threw Ryan under the bus with that comment! I hope we see Tank in with the winner of Haney v Lomachenko, or failing that Shakur. Gervonta's comments about Rihanna indicate that he wants to be a star. Well, if you want to be star, if you want to crossover beyond hard-core fight fans, fight the best men. Thats what SRL, Hearns & Hagler did.

Ryan obviously isn't an influencer who became a boxer, he has some boxing pedigree, but I think he is similar to Tommy Fury, a boxer with a huge online presence who is as interested in being an influencer as a boxer. I think Ryan & his team have to sit down & think now. I'm sure Ryans's online presence will make him enough money to get by & he can top it up with occasional fights. TBH, Ryan can beat most 135-140 lb guys just on his hand speed but he won't beat the best men. Alternatively, Ryan can fully commit to boxing, massively reduce his time online & focus. In that case they need to line him up with 3 or 4 fights against tough opposition. You really shouldn't be fighting Tank Davis if your only legit opponent is Luke Campbell. He needs more experience v proper quality fighters.
