First of all, I'm not taking anything away from Floyd Mayweather Jr. He is a great fighter, and the greatest boxing talent of our generation, easily.

But Marquez' success in moving up seemed to peak at lightweight, where he looked more hittable, and vulnerable than ever. He had to come from behind in both of his wins at lightweight, and seemed to have all he can handle.

So logically, you would think that moving up two weight divisions and 12 pounds beyond that would have a tremendous effect on his effectiveness.

It did. Obviously, Floyd is a great fighter, and one could argue that he would have won at any weight. But the fact of the matter is that they fought at welterweight, where Marquez is unproven.

Floyd was in some case unproven too, he was off for 2 years, and many writers here said that JMM will school floyd and more of that **** was throwen here, but when Floyd won all of writers says that it wasn't JMM division, he is too old and something like this. Floyd will never get the props, because many of writers here has subjective opinions and not objective. But you know i understand this is because of his ego, and trash talking and he has to blame himself for this.

pacs the better fighter fought the beter oponents i think if mayweather fought a number of welters hes in trouble williams i think would beat both pac and mayweater mosley 50 /50 either man and cotto favor both pac and mayweather but stil could go either way mayweather aint fought the best out there so i dont see him as number 1 was good against marquez but jmm looked blown up slow and out of him comfort zone jmm should stick to light weight hes seen pac rise up and tried the same pacs style suited him on the rise while jmm as lost his spark in the last two weight climbs

Who expected him to say otherwise? We already know what anybody from Pac's camp going to say and what Mayweather's going to say so what's the point? Floyd had already had 5 fights at welterweight, and 3 at Jr. Welterweight. The fact that he was away for two years doesn't account for the fact that he was fighting a lightweight at welterweight.

I don't remember any credible writers saying that Marquez was going to school Floyd. Almost everyone had Floyd winning the fight comfortably.

As far as him never getting props, you have to understand that the way Floyd chose to carry himself, and portray himself in the media, you are essentially drawing a bull's eye on your back.
