Mayweather is so desperate to stay relevant. Nobody cares about him. He needs to show up at every major sporting event so people can see him. SRL, Hearns, Hagler, and Duran would have smoked him.

I reckon that you have a reading comprehension issue. BTW, that he has won all those belts in the past doesn't that he cannot propose a solution for the messy belts situation we have now. Some of you folks seem unable to reason rationally.Comment

Your hatred for Floyd Mayweather Jr is so apparent. Nobody cares about you said and yet he is still making tens of millions of dollars for just an exhibition. Get a life and stop hating on a successful guy, an icon for that matter whether you like it or not.Comment

You just lack any form of common sense. Adding a new belt does noting to solve the problem. Floyd just wants a cut of that sanctioning money.Comment

We already have the TBRB. They're nonprofit, not affiliated with any promoters or governing bodies, and they don't need to award a belt. They don't care about filling vacancies, they'll leave a title open until someone earns it by winning a fight between #1 and #2.Comment

If Floyd talks to the different organizations like he said he is going to then that offers some hope. Sitting down with the alphabet soups and getting them on board is the only way we might get back to having just one belt per weight class.
Of course there’s bound to be pushback from the promoters like Bob Arum, who encouraged the proliferation of belts in the first place. He isn’t going to give up his cozy relationship with the WBO easily. That is going to be the biggest hurdle to overcome in my opinion.Last edited by ShoulderRoll; 04-22-2023, 03:40 AM.Comment

He won’t and he couldn’t make a difference even if he wanted to tbh. It’s a throwaway interview with some betting site that boxingscene needlessly have developed into an article because they know Mayweather in the headline will get them clicks.

I just find it hilarious that he said he’s going to introduce a new belt to help solve the problem of too many belts. It’s just such a contradiction or at the very least a completely paradoxical statement.

Floyd became too much of a scammer unfortunately with all his NFT and ******* ventures. And several things he did to fans years earlier with selling their online data. He doesn't have the credibility to manage a sanctioning body without several layers of corruption involved in the ranking system. If he was a more trustworthy and honorable guy the idea might stand a chance to evolve into something but since he's not, it's doomed to fail.Comment
