Being a 39-year old heavyweight isn't a position built around long-term planning. Sure, there have been examples of big men who last a long time and heavyweights can last a little longer than their smaller peers, but 39 is still 39. Making the most of opportunities is critical.

What took Zhang so long to get here? Promotion? Management? Avoided?

I think a bit of all that combined with the fact that boxers try and secure a title shot with one maybe two meaningful wins smh

We should be seeing these top 15ish guys fight each other way more often, what a waste.

Why did zhang become Pro for 10 years before getting a move on.? I'm sure he could have fastbtracked.
Im sure a 36 year old zhang would have better chance than a 40 year old

Zhang is a top skilled HW. He's gonna be avoided like plague. Maybe Usyk would fight him.

He should've been a champion already. If Wilder or AJ would've somehow cherrypicked Zhang then this probably it would have been a cherrypick gone wrong for Wilder or AJ.

Zhang should’ve taking a loss to Forrest in 2021 , the second he loses you guys will call the guy who defeats him the most avoided heavyweight . To predictable on here . Lol

That's the problem when, so many of these fighters turn pro at an advanced age ,they run out of track.

dude was a product in development. he had no promotional backing and no real trainer.

it's unfortunate there wasn't some Chinese management company that could bankroll his training expenses. China does not care about boxing.

some people just has to go the hard way.

There was a lot of talk about Joyce's granite chin and freakishly dense bones before this fight. But the problem he had was that, no matter how good your chin is, or how dense your bones are, they are covered in flesh and skin that cuts, bleeds and bruises up, just like everybody else's.
