Comments Thread For: Joe Joyce's Resilience Reaches Its Limits Against Zhilei Zhang

By Corey Erdman - Clearly, Joe Joyce did not intend for the cruel irony of the themed ring walk he'd planned for his bout against Zhilei Zhang. Joyce, known professionally as The Juggernaut, opted for the imagery of another fictional character, The Terminator in his pre-entrance video and sound. The familiar percussion from the movie theme played as footage of

He can still beat more HW than he can't, so I think he will be fine. Good paydays and fun fights are still in his future. But the aura of indestructability he was trying to portray is shattered. He either works on basic Boxing Defense 101 in camp, or he will end up getting a productive career cut short.

Clearly he fell in love with his talent of taking punishment, it was only a matter of time before he came unstuck. It’ll be interesting to see if this has a big effect on his confidence in future fights and I hope he can recover it, as Joyce brings excitement to the division.

He's never even going to have an average defence at this level. In fact to become average would be a phenomenal achievement.

It's all about matchmaking now. Put him up against smaller guys who he can break down with relentless pressure. He'll go well in some instances there... not so much big guys who can ****.

I was always intrigued by this matchup. It seemed a poor decision to fight someone he was practically made for.

I think Zhang beats him again. Joyce is not young and they must match him carefully at this point. Whyte fight would be a good idea, Ortiz also. Dubois rematch also.

WOW. Well I called that one horrifically wrong! Broke Joyce's face!!! If his face holds up does he stop Zhang late rounds? I'm not so sure any more.

Given the damage I agree wholeheartedly with the stoppage, but had the eye have held up better, I believe Joyce would have gone on to win. Reasons include that he was beginning to become more active during rounds 5 and 6, Zhang's own output was slowing considerably, Joyce has an incredible engine.

It's a pity Joyce chose someone so good to have to beat in a rematch to get to usy k or fury? If only Joyce lost to a smaller statue guy like Ruiz, or Areola you'd fancy Joyce to win rematch. But Zhang is difficult
