Zhang wasn't letting Joyce extend his punches.
Joyce doesn't generate his power in short shots & it looked like Zhang rocked him harder than it looked in Round 1. Zhang fought a masterclass last night.
I'm glad I stayed away from betting this fight.

He is usually better with range so his lack of head movement doesn't come into play as much. In most of his fights however he does get tagged a bit-especially early. His opponent really didn't impress me-he looked kinda tired and one can say that Joyce lost on injury more than anything else...it's not like it was a shut-out with Zhang or that he got completely outclassed-it was competitive.
People can say whatever they like to say about how good JJ is but the truth of the matter is that JJ has never fought anyone in his pro career close as good as Zhang or as big and strong. He was completely outboxed and outsmarted by Zhang. Zhang picked his shots whenever he wanted and managed his energy well, he took breaks now and then and allowed Joe to work while he made sure his shots were ineffective by shortening his range, that's the reason why he was looking so fresh after 6 rounds of boxing. The Parker win made some people and himself to think that he is an elite fighter but in reality he is not, he's just strong fighter with a decent chin. Parker has always been a journeyman. Even the DDD win wasn't convincing for DDD was leading and had him on the back foot till he suffered an eye injury for he himself is a stiffass who also lacks head movement but faster than JJ. In short, JJ met a better and stronger opponent and lost. No shame to that for there are a lot of top 20 fighters he can beat and make decent money.

Zhang has a deceptively fast left straight. Joe couldn't see it.

hes slow as hell what are you talking about, its terribly telegraphed, he didnt do ANYTHING special.

Boxing is such that you can go from an unstoppable force to "he's hit his ceiling" in one fight. Floyd made it to where boxer's can't lose and keep their luster. It's frustrating. WE have all these undefeated boxers who are supposedly world class, yet haven't fought each other. Joyce deserves credit for taking a huge risk... and he also deserves some leeway for his performance. Zhang was southpaw, a silver medalist, and recently robbed. Made for a bad combination for Joyce that night. But as long as the "best" fight the best, we have to give them credit, and not brush off their career after a loss.

Do you believe what you are saying? If JJ's eye didn't swell up do you really think Zhang was gonna win or that he would show his class? Zhang looked to be breathing out of his ******.In a sense he kinda hit the lottery.

It's crazy that you mention the DDD fight as Dubois essentially quit while Joyce carried on in this fight-both the DDD-JJ fight and the Zhang-JJ fight were close at the time of stoppage. I would like to see a rematch...we'll see what happens.

Nobody is saying JJ is the cream of the crop, but he's making some fun fights. Not everyone is gonna be #1.
