  • Comments Thread For: Hearn To Consider Sunny Edwards-Julio Cesar Martinez If Rodriguez (Jaw) Can't Return In Time

SAN ANTONIO - Eddie Hearn always liked Jesse 'Bam' Rodriguez's chances to fully unify the flyweight division. The only concern on his part is how soon the two-division titleholder can return to take the next step towards accomplishing that goal.

Prefer this fight next; I think Sunny-Bam is the real determinant of top dog at 112. JCM hadn't done anything to really earn a shot at the winner. Sunny's definitely capable of beating JCM in a way that would build hype for a Bam fight, but JCM is certainly live in the fight with his style. Beat the brakes off his brother too, even though it ended NC

Agreed man, this is the fight to make. Sunny has wanted it for years too.

It's a class fight. Buildup would be good too - it's a shame Charlie is talking about wanting to fight Sunny and there was a bit of needle between them a while ago otherwise you could heavily sell the redemption aspect of it (can still do that ofc). Glad Sunny's with Matchroom now, it's the right place for him given the 112 landscape.

Is that real? I assumed it was just tongue in cheek but I don’t know the history of it tbh.

Bam would have a easier time with Edwards than he did with Chicharito.

I think there was a thing a couple of years ago about them not speaking. I won’t claim to know any more than having seen the odd article on it though so quite possibly could be tongue in cheek yeh

I don’t know myself tbh, just assumed he was joking, maybe it is serious, would be crazy if it somehow materialised into a fight.

I can't really see Charlie being that serious, for one I don't see him making 112Lb again. I saw him on a vidio talking about all this the other day & he didn't really come across as overly stable. Let's see how he gets on in his next few fights. Shame the EBU don't contest @ 115Lb otherwise maybe Charlie could have fought for the European super-flyweight title.
