Yeh but its a advantage that almost gurantees a easier victory how many great champs can you mention that had short reach. You say DURAN and TYSON but even they struggled against fighter with longer reach. Duran could cope with ray leonards speed but had no chance against hearns as an example

But they still have to use the reach to their advantage for it to be effective. Like any attribute its something an opponent has to find a way to overcome. Just because a person has more reach than his opponent in no way guarantees victory.

Reach is very important, but it can be overcome. Having longer arms doesn't automatically win you fights.

Reach is an advantage just like being tall, but some boxers dont know how to use their height advantage. Floyd does he stands very straight giving himself a bigger advantage against smaller opponents.

Vitali didnt win on reach alone, Im sure Arreola fought someone with longer arms than him before, but Vitali's other attributes like controlling distance with his feet, circling, power, accuracy, mixing up his punches, and holding when he had to insured the victory against Arreola. If one of those things just mentioned wasnt there for Vitali, it could have made all the difference in the world for Arreola to have a better chance in winning or making it a more competitive fight. In other words, overall boxing skills win fights.

Vitaly's main weapon isn't his reach but his speed and movement. He dances around his opponents and unloads. Just look at how many punches he threw last night, and connected on Arreola - over 300 punches landed. The guy is a true professional to boot, that's why at 38 he's in such shape.

aeriola couldnt do that and the constant ammount of punches wore aeriola out thats why they stopped the fight. If aeriola had more reach i think it would have been a better fight for aeriola. Haye has good reach and would have more of chance than aeriola against both klitkos

Speed played the biggest factor in that fight. Floyd ducking under JMM's punches and then countering him is more related to a speed advantage than a reach advantage.
