If you truly, truly know Boxing, you would understand that Canelo beats Benavidez. Boxers and movers (Lara, Bivol etc) will trouble Canelo but Benavidez is gonna be right in Canelo's wheel house. Walking Canelo down like he has done others will only lead to him been KO'ed. Canelo can hit and he also has those subtle defensive moves he's developed since the Mayweather fight which he hasn't been relying on lately 'cos of the obsession with his power. If he goes back to that and pick his shots, I think he beats Benavidez easy.

Check his resume. Win or lose, he's consistently taken on the greatest challenges. He's not arrogant, he just knows what he's capable of and what he's actually achieved, and that's why he doesn't sweat a guy like Benavidez one bit. The fact that Canelo is targeting a Bivol rematch after this tune-up with Ryder says everything anyone needs to know about his character and competitive spirit. He will probably lose again, but he's going for it anyway.Canelo needs to learn a few lessons in how to be humble. I've never heard the likes of Inoue, Beterbiev and Usyk blowing smoke up their own a$$ like that before... The only person who does talk like that is Fury but more often than not he backs his talk up in the ring, Lets not forget Canelo is a CONVICTED drugs cheat with appalling stamina, slow feet and a complete inability to revert to a plan b in fights when things aint going his way. Certainly doesn't make him great to my eyes.

As others have said, Canelo has few problems with those who constantly come forward and attack and don't know how to fight on the back foot. If anything, Canelo's strong suit is counterpunching. Benavidez is a very good fighter, but a defensive genius he is not and he will be attacked and counter-punched by Alvarez.Comment

Lets not forget that when clenelo starts getting hit he mentally quits. Benavidez with that long arm come forward jab and shot gun powerful right hand will serious hurts Alvared.

When? I missed that fight. Canelo was touched pretty well by Golovkin in the first and second fights when Golovkin was the most feared fighter on the planet, but he did not quit. When Canelo fought Bivol he was hit like a pinata at times, but not only did he not quit but is clamoring for a rematch. How is that quitting? By the way enough with this "clenelo" nonsense. The man has a real name. Use it. Name-calling or ad hominem arguments are for the weak-minded.Comment

Benevitez is there to be hit, but he keeps coming forward. Canelo gets frustrated when the guy standing in front of him doesn’t react to his punches.
Canelo has great punch selection and he has pop, but unless his opponent is shot to sh#t, significantly smaller, or rather chinny, Canelo doesn’t score knockouts. Canelo will win rds against Benevitez rather easily I feel like, but against a pressure boxer who doesn’t get tired and throws a lot of punches as well to the body, who has a lot of power and size, like Benevitez, it will offer problems to Canelo.
Benevitez wouldn’t be very bothered by Canelo’s punches and that’ll frustrate Canelo, make Canelo try harder and as a result, will make Canelo fatigued in the later rds, which just so happens to be when Benevitez tends to shine.
Its an amazing matchup and an intriguing one.Comment

What are you watching? Benavidez is an arm puncher. GGG was a far heavier hitter than Red Flag.Comment

It’s nice to see how canelo is just as delusional as his fan base in. If he’s great and ggg is only good, then how would anyone explain that a prime version of canelo got a gift draw against a 35 yr old ggg and a judges assisted win against a 36 yr old ggg. Canelo even lost 4 of the last 5 rounds against a 40 yr old ggg. He can verbally say what he wants but nobody with any sense thinks he’s running over Benavidez. On the contrary, there’s a good chance he’s the one who takes a beating.Comment
