Pointless fight. It was vaguely interesting seeing Aldo vs Stephens and Vitor vs Jacare under boxing rules though.

Roy must be awful with money. He has good gigs as an announcer and trainer. Money shouldn’t be an issue unless he’s still trying to live like a baller. Without fighting he’s probably pulling in a few hundred K a year minimum.Comment

Humiliating loss. What's he lost now, 10? Best ever! Top 100 of his generation at best. Poor resume, best win by a mile is Toney who lost about 20, and Hopkins beat him easier in the rematch than Jones did when he edged Green Hopkins, prime B-hop schooled him. Tyson beat him 8-0 as well and that was a real fight in Nash's eyes. Calzaghe showed him who was boss as well. Nash outComment

I love Roy Jones Jr. In his prime I thought darn, this guy is almost unbeatable, and that only a heavyweight like Lennox Lewis would be too much.
So it's somewhat melancholic now, not that he's still fighting here and there, but that continued after bad ko losses.
The downward spiral in his career took place when he went back down to light heavyweight, and then an excellent opponent in Tarver. Antonio didn't have Roy's talent, but I guess he just had Roy's number.
Maybe if he had fought Tarvet before John Ruiz, he could've beaten Tarver more decisively than the first fight.
Glen Johnson was a tough, underrated fighter, but you wouldn't expect him, Calzaghe and definitely not Maccarinelli to beat a prime Roy.
The biggest concern that people have about Roy is that he keeps on fighting, and takes even more punishment.Last edited by Liondw; 04-02-2023, 12:07 PM.Comment

LMAO at a few hundred K a year. Yeaaaah riiiiight! He hasn't made anything remotely close to that since he was an active P4P fighter. Commentating and training fighters don't pay well. He'd be blessed to make $70K a year now days.Comment

If you actually saw the fight Roy didn't look terrible considering he was almost 20 years older than an opponent who had just been active in the PFL, and not only that he busted him up and had him leaking from his nose and left his face swollen only to lose a MD in a fight that he could've easily won. I don't think he should be fighting anymore and if they would've given him the win that would've been a nice one to call it on but it is what it is as long as he's fighting blown up 155 lbers I don't have a problem with it.Comment
