But as a promoter, stay in ones lane I'd say I guess. His own fighter Gilberto Ramirez got his ears boxed off by Bivol. Canelo did better against Bivol than Zurdo. He won a few rounds at least.
Zurrdo is not his boxer. He is a promoter and his job is to promote fights and get his fighters the best possible fights. Making big fights means taking risk, and that's what happend to Zurdo. You are comparing P4P number 1 Canelo to decent boxer Zurdo. We all know Canelo is a better boxer even before the Bivol vs Zurdo fight.

Although some will criticize Oscar for giving his opinion on his ex fighter.
I think he was pretty fair in what he said.

Plus he made a very good observation about Bivol being light on his feet while Canelo is the opposite.

It's ironic that De la Hoya is now urging Canelo to take the big fights and cement his legacy. When De la Hoya was Canelo's manager, his whole strategy was to avoid the big fights, or at least to delay them until the biggest threats like GGG had aged out of their prime, in order to maintain Canelo's winning streak. If Oscar and Canelo really wanted to be seen as the supreme middleweight, super-middleweight and ligh heavyweight champion, the fights with Bivol or Beterbiev or Benavidez could easily have been made by De la Hoya when he was Canelo's manager. Likewise, the first and second fights with GGG could have happened at least a year or two before they did, when GGG was still at his best. De la Hoya bears some of the blame that Canelo's legacy will be somewhat tainted by a long history of cherry-picking following the loss to Mayweather.

Canelo sued Oscar, won the suit, and ditched him as a promoter because Oscar was holding him back and damaging his career. More importantly, De La Hoya lied to Canelo and withheld important information from Canelo about promises he made to DAZN. It is all pretty sad.
Yes, DLH's opinion on canelo isn't worth schitt.

When Oscar was older than canelo he fought Hopkins , Floyd and pac. So he can speak on this. In regards to holding back canelos career , it’s without a doubt a fact that canelo’s biggest fights have come with Oscar as his promoter. From fights with Floyd, Lara, cotto, ggg 2x, those have been canelos most meaningful fights. If anyone’s holding canelo back, it’s been Hearn who seems content to keep lining up these Brits who pose minimal threat.
The problem I have with Oscar is that while Oscar fought the toughest fights available it was Oscar that kept Canelo from fightest the toughest available fights. It began to come to a head when Oscar was against Canelo fighting Lara and had to push back strongly to get that fight made. Oscar was definitely against Canelo fighting Mayweather.

he will fight ggg again after ryder under the selling point that maybe THIS TIME golovkin is old enough for canelo to knock him out (or at least beat him by more than 1 round)

You may be right. I actually suspected that Reynoso has been the one calling the shots for years when it came to hatch making. I could be wrong though.
