castillo is going to try to rush in and do work on the inside of chico. it's a good place to be, against someone with longer arms, but the fact of the matter is corrales is going to catch him on his way in. and corrales wont let all that fouling go on or at least without retort, like diaz did he's more experienced. corrales will punish castillo for an exciting and game 10 full rds, and ko him in the 11th....body-head combo.....game over. i get my money's worth........
Corrales - Castillo

One thing that even Showtime (whose announcing I don't carry in the highest of esteem) pointed out is that Castillo is open to the right hand- and Corrales can put people to sleep with either hand. I find myself wondering if Castillo is gonna be able to take Chico's power if he is able to land it easily?Comment

Corrales is going to KO Castillo, he was just "alright" against Diaz, and got dominated by Casamayor, the KO might even come before the 6th RD, it is just waiting to happen, I'll take Chicos defense over his anyday.Last edited by IwatchBoxing; 03-14-2005, 07:05 PM.Comment

It is true about Diaz, he KO'ed him but Diaz had his moments in the fight. And if Diaz was not cut over both eyes who knows how the fight would have gone- I am pretty sure that alot of guys could beat Diaz when blood is flowing into both eyes!Comment

Diego Corrales will never be anything less than a very live underdog, no matter WHO he fights; Mayweather included.
But I want you guys to take a close look at his fight with Acelino Freitas. Impressive as his late surge was, the fact remains that he stood idle for seven rounds, lumbering like a zombie & eating punches. Freitas just didn't have the ass to pull it off in the end. He could have ended that fight by asserting himself a little more around round 6 & not relying on half-assed flurries. That much movement & activity is not conductive with his abilities.
Castillo, on the other hand, is a bull. In a slow round, he still throws upward of 60 punches. And it's not like Castillo is just gonna be racking up points on the cards; he's gonna be HURTING Corrales. Corrales has a chance if he gets it in his head to man up in the first few rounds, but Castillo is one of the most dangerous fighters in the world in the later rounds. Corrales only shot is to take care of it early. I just can't see it happening. He's gonna let Castillo into the fight, and it's gonna cost him in the end.Comment

This actually is true what you say about the first few rounds of Freitas, I was practically screaming at the TV for Chico to get off his ass and get some work in. However, that slow start is not how he always is. Against Casamayor in the rematch he had his best work in the first six or seven rounds, controlling the fight with his jab and left hook. Against Gainer and Manfredy he was very active early knocking them both out before round four came. I think that Castillo's problem is that he is not just a boxer as you say. I see that as meaning that Castillo is goning to be more willing to stand in the pocket with Diego and trade, unlike Mayweather and Casamayor- and when that happens Diego puts fighters to sleep...Comment

Stylewise this match up heavily favors Castillo in my opinion. Castillo has the better chin, he throws much more combinations, he has more experience and he is much more rough on the inside than Corrales. The only real edge I give Corrales is power but I feel Castillo will be able to hurt Corrales more.
Both Diaz and Casamayor are much better boxers than Corrales and they couldn't stop Castillo from getting to the inside and ****ing the body so how can Corrales. Corrales usually throws only one punch at a time and Castillo's combinations are going to be landing all night while Corrales tries to reload his punches. His height and reach won't an advantage because once he sees Castillo landing punches he will want to go to war which will be his downfall. I think Castillo will eventually wear Corrales down for the stoppage.
Castillo by late round stoppage in rather one-sided fashion. Corrales has never been in the ring with a fighter as rough and tough as Castillo not even Casamayor. I'm not hating on Corrales but stylewise this matchup just doesn't favor him at all in my opinion. Casamayor and Diaz both had more advantages over Castillo then Corrales and I have even said they would give Castillo much more trouble than Corrales.Comment

I beg to differ, only one of the Mayweather fights were suspect and Castillo has yet to fight anybody with Chico's power. Castillo is meat that is headed to the grinder my friend. He is not leaving the ring on his feet.Originally posted by Runw/knivesCastillo has never been knocked out legitimately or down. All of his losses were by cuts, or robbery.
Corrales' chin is suspect. Castillo has K.O.'d 46 opponents.
Corrales is a twig Castillo is a chainsaw.
The bigger machine will systematically break down the weaker fighter.Comment

castillo will break corrales down with his rough tactics.........corrales might have a harder punch but castillo is still bigger than corrales........castillo will win thisComment
