My apologies, I meant Ortiz NOT Stanionis. When Ortiz KO’s Stanionis, he can go after Spence or call out Crawford, irrespective of where he ranks on the pecking order of Crawford’s belt.

Nah bro! You are placing limitations on potentially massive fights by saying one can’t fight for a specific belt if he’s the mandatory for a different belt.
Boots is Spence’s mandatory but Spence is looking to fight Thurman so you’re saying Boots can’t get a shot at Crawford because he’s not mandatory? No no no, Boots is a much better option than Rocha.

So when Ortiz destroys Stanionis and Spence is busy fighting Thurman, Ortiz can verbally and loudly call out Crawford. That is a mouth watering fight that will outsell a dud like Crawford vs Rocha.

It’s the same exact reason why when a guy like Haney moves up to 140, he can leap over the mandatories and fight any champion at 140.
When Floyd moved up to 140, he fought a legit belt holder in Gatti despite being not ranked at 140.
He did the same thing when he moved to 147 less than a year later when he got dibs at Zab and Baldomir so yes, name recognition and accomplishments can trump the next guy in line.
