Well, it doesn't seem that Carman Briscoe-Lee holds much disdain for plant as they were childhood sweethearts.

But it seems like he was relatively unactive in Alia's life choosing his career over being present during the critical moments of her short life, Plant's family members like his father guilt tripped the mother whenever she informed him about the baby's condition, Caleb was even absent during the funeral.
