Who if I remember correctly Ortiz was scheduled to fight, before to the fight being cancelled or postponed due to a Staniones injury.
One more thing about Barrios, his face doesn't seem to hold up well, as some other fighter's when he's under bombardment (tends to swell, and cut).
Those 3 were for Mario barrios, not Ortiz Jr.! Ortiz Jr. should be Stanionis, then Spence or Crawford, then Boots Ennis!

I would suggest he starts with Rashidi Ellis!

Why do you think that Villa softened him up with those two knockdowns?

I think It's a better victory for Barrios, if he were to win! He would learn more of what he needs going forward, looking to Ortiz Jr. and Boots!

Not a bad idea, considering that he has likely better timing than Rocha and has shown good body work at his first bout at welterweight with Thurman.

Not trying to sell Rocha short, he is a southpaw with solid fundamentals and power, but tends to throw his gameplan through the window despite having success and has difficulty making adjustments with the likes of Veron, Perez and Ashie. Barrios however showed more consistency even in his losses.

Whether he can pull it off I am a tad skeptic, but despite that Ellis has a higher activity rate than Thurman, he has more deficits such as his gas tank coupled along with both a glass chin and body.

Plus he is coming off from a loss, better strike the iron while its hot.

I think Ellis has the skill set that Barrios need to learn how to neutralize, if he's to develop as a fighter! That being said, Barrios has the skill set that Ellis needs to learn how to neutralize too! Should be a 50/50 fight!

Back to back losses, and an insignificant win against Santiago, has put his career in a tail spin, Ellis just might be the trifecta.
Ortiz vs Ennis, should've already happened, it appears to me that they are taking the long way to title shot, especially Ennis.

Agree, both fighters would get the experience get some necessary experience if the fight were to happen. Not sure myself if it would be a 50/50 fight, as Rashidi looks quite more impressive as he fights against opposition like Rocha and Villa.

We will see how good Barrios is and how he develops as he challenges the contenders at 147 like Crowley, Avanesyan and Etc,
