OK, you can call me an idiot but I see this one as competitive. Lomachenko has great skills & a huge advantage in experience. Haney isn't going to go out there & **** Lomachenko out. Haney is going to outbox Loma early on but if Loma can survive that & stay competitive I think he has a great chance to take over in rounds 7-12
I would like to see ref penalize Haney for holding. He holds as much as a heavyweight. I thought it was criminal how much he held Linares and no point deduction. That will be key to beating Loma I think. But Loma is also very good at demonstrating for the ref when he is being held (arms up, squatting). With the jab and hold (unchecked) I think Haney will win. Call me sentimental, but I’d like to see Loma get it.
I also think Loma’s last fight might have been good preparation for a big, good jabbing lightweight. Hmm
This is a fight that Haney should win comfortably but he won’t. He has every conceivable advantage you would need to win a fight like this, except for IQ. He won’t impose his size on Lomachenko. He will try to outbox him straight up, and he will lose.
i see haney dominating this fight hes just too big and skilled
but loma is a champion of highest quality probably not hes best matchup here everything seems to be in haneys favour
but i will be going for loma though
If Loma waits til round 7 to make his move, he will lose. If he can somehow get inside and check Haney's chin, he has a chance.
This comment here. Spot-on.
When Loma turns on is the most critical part of this matchup, and really any of his fights. That’s always the case for high IQ fighters, especially ones fighting above their natural weight class.
Lopez understood this about Loma and being brave, waded in early to ensure Loma felt his power, thus delaying Loma’s start enough to get the nod. But had that fight gone 15 rounds, I think anyone would agree that Loma would have won.
Haney isn’t half as brave or half as powerful as Lopez. So he’ll need some other game plan. Some people are suggesting he’ll use his jab but I think Loma finds plenty of ways to get around it.
