Even if Hurd was unactive for a year.
the fact that he pulled it off against an experienced and quite physically imposing former world champion is impressive.
As Manny Robles stated in the press conference, Resendiz lacks an amateur record along with the fact that he only had professional 13 fights against unraked opponents and even received a loss at age 22 quite recently.
Haymon knows what he's doing here. He's looking for a Middleweight to challenge Charlo if he comes back and needs to make it look at least acceptable to the paying fans. Resendiz will go in thinking he's legit and get a shock. it's a set-up. Nothing more.Comment

Charlo will have a warm up first to shed the rust. Then Resendiz's short time in the limelight will come to an end. Haymon knows what he's doing here. He was happy so sacrifice a shot fighter who has been out for far too long to convince anyone he can that Charlo has a challenge at PBC. He doesn't, but some will believe he does.Comment

He just lost to a green 13-1 nobody that not only lost recently, but also got dropped during the process. He was hand-picked for Hurd to look good and it backfired. Like, where do you go from here? Hurd will continue to stumble on the rocks, his style isn't compatible with someone who doesn't have natural power at their own weight.Comment
