Comments Thread For: Gervonta Davis on Ryan Garcia: He's One of The Top Guys

Gervonta Davis did his best to ignore the perpetual callouts of Ryan Garcia. But after antagonizing his man to no end, the hard-hitting star out of Baltimore, Maryland, decided to take the 24-year-old up on his offer.

After the fight, when they wake Ryan up, tell him Tank wants him in the crowd for his next fight against Haney or Shakur.

I wish Tank had answered Gary Antuanne Russell's "callout!"

counterpoint: Ryan Garcia is barely tested. Only in these "eyeball test" days could Ryan Garcia be considered a top guy. He has a large fanbase. He looks beatable. That's why Tank is fighting him.

I wish Ryan had agreed to fight Haney when he was the Mando. I wish Ryan hadn't backed away from the JoJo Diaz fight! I can go on!

I hope the WBA does it's job, and orders the winner to fight the WBA "Super" Champion, so there's only ONE WBA CHAMPION at 135!!!

I don't have a bad word to say about this fight because it ticks all the boxes. Two young unbeaten fighters with bad blood; that's a recipe for an exciting build up and fight.
Obviously, Davis is the favorite but Garcia's physical dimensions make the fight interesting. I just hope there's no hiccups en-route to both men meeting in the ring.

in what world is cRyan a top guy? Whos he beaten to be considered a top guy? Davis is a top guy at 130. At 135 who has he beat to be considered a top guy? He refused to fight Loma when Loma was the man. Now that Haney IS the man has he even attempted to fight him? And at 140 he wanted no part of Taylor. What about Rougarou or Matias now that they have legit belts?

This is a casual fan fight. It will sell because they both have big followings. But in the end, its not for a belt (wbc will prob create another bs diarrhea belt), its for bragging rights.

Ryan is a top guy in the only metric that Tank cares about: $$$$

He's got a huge social media following, so Tank can make more money fighting him than anyone else 130-140. You think the casuals know who Haney is? Taylor? Stevenson? Most of those guys don't even have fan friendly styles. I could maybe see Davis wanting to fight Loma if Loma somehow manages to beat Haney, especially if he stops him, but for Tank, it's pretty clear that $$$ talks.

Tank is a product of Mayweather's gym after all, the same guy who's been beating up on all kinds of random mismatched safe bets. FFS, the guy fought Tenshin Nasukawa. They're like 6 divisions apart in weight. That's the mentality that Tank has spent most of his career surrounded by.
