I believed that this fighting dynamo could win a world championship belt, and Zayas, and Berlanga are nowhere near his ability right now.
What happened with Matias' career is that he wasn't fighting in the smaller venue's of the island's, and wasn't signed by any of the big time promoter's.
He's reached his goal of a championship, and now his career should take off like a supersonic jet, along with the bigger purse's, and facing the bigger name's.Comment

I'm not so sure about that. I'm married to a Boriqua, and none of her family members know Matias, but they know Zayas and Berlanga! Arum has Xayas on fire, and Berlanga got the push from Fat Joe! Matias is still only for the hardcore boxing fans! He's not really at Verdejo level yet, which is a shame! Now that Matias is a Champion, PBC should only have him fighting in NYC or FL!!!
My cousin didn't know who he was until I took him to see his fight against Ponce at Legends one of the bigger NYC's sports bar's.
I do hope that his promotional team bring him over to Florida, and New York where his career will pick up even more traction.
How about making his first title defense in New York's Madison Square Garden, for the Puerto Rican Day Parade weekend, that would be an enormous boost for his career's trajectory.Comment

Do yourself a favor, and check him out on YouTube! He had some promotional issues, which set him back, but he's a real threat to anyone @ 140! Just because you don't know some of these fighters, doesn't mean there simply "cab drivers!" There are real fighters outside the US and UK! Even in the US, there are fighters that are below the radar that can fight! Guys like Brandun Lee, Charles Conwell, and Bruce "Shu-Shu" Carrington! People will say, "who have they fought," and I get it. I also ask, like the case with Boots, Ergashev, and Matias, "who wants to fight them?"

I like Matias, and while I do want to see the fight, I don't think that he should be so ****y before fighting Prograis. Regis is going to give him all types of work, but is more defensively responsible than Subriel. Matias should be humble, get to work with people that can improve his technical skills on defense, and spend time watching film. Prograis isn't anything to play with.Comment

That fool doesn't believe the bull****, that he's spewing on this platform, he's just trying to cause division with his false narrative.
Here's another bit of truism Taylor hasn't fought in over 1 year, and Prograis just won one his vacated belt's in an exciting war in his last fight, while Taylor barely won a controversial decision in his last fight.
Although Taylor is set to fight Lopez, for possibly his biggest purse to date, it's a fight between two psychologically fractured fighter's, or so it appears to me.Comment

Prograis has gotten pretty overrated around here but he is the same guy who lost to Taylor. He hasn't improved at all yea he's a good fighter but he's outgunned against Matias who I believe is the worse style for Regis.
I'm sure Regis ppl will keep him away from Matias.Comment

I don't care who it is, it's very hard to get 19 KOs, and the IBF belt, in 20 fights! Jukembayev and Ponce were undefeated fighters, both highly ranked by the IBF! Matias stopped both of them! I'm sure you will see Ponce again! His corner saved his career, and quite possibly, they saved his life too! Not too many guys literally kill a man with boxing gloves! Matias is not just a "guy!"
Those four undefeated up, and coming fighter's are Hawkins 18-0, Jukembayev 18-0, and Ponce 30-0.
The first undefeated was the ill fated Dadashev 13-0, a Russian who wanted to continue the bout, although unbeknownst to him he was already mortally wounded.
So Bronx2245, you have to take thing's for what they're worth, and some post, comment's, and reply's, just aren't worth the time of a rebuttal.
This reply was in support to your's.Comment

So I take it you're a guy who favors power punchers.
I just watched ergashev versus sonny Fredrickson. I'm not impressed. He is strong. But that's about it.
Ergashev didnt land 1 jab in the 3 rounds. These are things that you can get away with fighting low level opponents. It will get your ears boxed off at the top level
