  • Comments Thread For: Regis Prograis To Subriel Matias: Congratulations Champ, Hope To See You One Day

Regis Prograis now has company among fighters likely to be avoided in the talent-laden 140-pound division. Subriel Matias became Puerto Rico's third active titlist following a stoppage win of Argentina's Jeremias Ponce after five rounds in their vacant IBF junior welterweight title fight. The fiercely contested battle saw Matias drop Ponce (30-1, 20KOs) late in round five, with the fight stopped in the corner prior to the start of round six in their Showtime-televised main event from The Armory in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

I like the idea Prograis is picking interest fighting Matador Matias...brutal fight for both but I see Matias stopping Prograis in championship rounds in a fight he was ahead on the cards. SUMMER FIGHT

This would be a great fight. I’d favour Prograis though, just think he has far more dimensions to his game.

You know RJJ, I think exactly the same, except that Matias is demonstrating a great chin, as well as total composure under fire.

As of now I see it 51-49 for Prograis, but that chin and those mule kicks of Subriel could weigh heavily on my eventual pick...

Problem is it means he'll be ducking Catterall.

Matias is PBC, isn't he? Prograis is Probellum, Probellum has said they are open to working with PBC. But I still don't think the fight happens - despite it being a great fight. Matias has not received the same level of marketing machine behind him that guys like Bum****a, Teofimo,Boots, Loma, Golovkin, etc. have received. Which is a shame.

No he wouldn't! A Unification fight vs. a Champion with 19 wins and 19 KOs, IS NOT A DUCK!!!

I just think Prograis would pick his spots better, he has a nice jab too, he could definitely score a lot of points with that as Matias rarely jabs his way in.

Would love to see it. Matias is must watch, always brings the heat.

Prograis went from "cmon lets go" to

"maybe one day champ" lol told ya prograis won't go anywhere near Matias.

Prograis would get wrecked Matias is different and if softy Josh Taylor worked Progrias Matias would carve him up nicely.
