Thats the difference between Champions and Contenders - if Matias was the one in Ponce's place, he would have fought his corner and told them you are not going to stop this fight! Ponce should have said give me one more round! Just one more round. Ponce may not have been able to turn it around but it looks bad how he accepted the stoppage no problem.

Even so-called professional boxing writers saying stuff like "those who scratch their heads at sanctioning body rankings can feel as justified as ever here. "

I'll tell you what. I'm not saying that Matias walks through Ramirez, and Prograis, those are both tough fighter's in his future.
I believe that after a tough contested start, Matias break's them down just like he's done to the other 19 fighter's that he's defeated.

Those fights are good fights no doubt about it..but Ramirez won't be able to handle what Matias brings. Yes he's tough and will give it his best but that toughness will get him hurt against Matias. Same goes for Prograis who I personally feel is at the same level as Ramirez.
Matias is that rare type of fighter who comes in with a ridiculous workrate, stamina, chin, power and hunger.

I don’t know why everyone has Matías as some boogeyman. If you watch extremely closely at that very last punch sequence not a single shot from Matías landed yet Ponce went down. At best one shot did but I honestly didn’t see a single shot land. He then goes to his corner and does the No Mas all the while pretending his corner stopped it. He doesn’t have the grit be be a world champion
