David benevidez is far from a “skilled boxer” he literally has no defense. His defense is his offense. He’s looked great crushing pre crushed cans in his career. If he wipes out plant then he’ll have a legit scalp but the way he’s talking…if they do anything other than knock out plant in like 4 rounds then u know they’re just talking trying to get a payday fight. The way to canelo is through belts and beating other greats tho. I don’t know why no one gets this. Crying in the press he’s ducking anyone is both incorrect and it ain’t gonna get u closer to the fight u want

but I do remember David pushing him and charlo ran

And left overs or not, Benavidez will pummel Canelo if canelo ever decides to take the fight.
David has shown a lot of talent but let see how he looks vs plant cause if he can’t stop him then there’s no way he on canelos level
plus David been campaigning at 168 way before canelo had moved up he never fight another champ there he never tried unifying

Think people are overreacting that Canelo won't always take on Champions in every fight.

Being that said I think his explanation was unreasonable on why he shouldn't fight Benavidez, I am not stating this to undermine Plant's and Saunder's boxing ability, just that resume wise, they are not really that different compared to Benavidez with context.

            Caleb defeated:
            -Jose Uzcategui by UD
-Anthony Dirrell at 38 years old by 9th round KO by Caleb at age 30, had a single win with a journeyman and a Draw with Davis.
-A semi-retired Caleb Truax at 38 years old by UD. He was in a winning streak of two fights with unknown David Basajjamivule and Fabiano Pena.
-Rogelio Medina got outboxed by Plant, putting a masterclass by UD at 26 years old.

            David defeated:
            -Alexis Angulo by TKO.
-Anthony Dirrell at 34 years old, a champion and in a six winning streak was TKO in the 9th round by David at age 22. (David also TKO'd Davis)
-A semi-retired David Lemieux at 33 years old by 3rd round TKO. He was in a five winning streak including Sullivan and Bursak.
-Rogelio Medina was overwhelmed until he got TKO in the 8th round by a 20 year old David and this was before facing Caleb.

            Joe Saunders:
-Won by Split Decision with Chris Eubank Jr.
            -Defeated John Ryder by UD.
            -Defeated David Lemieux by UD.
            -Defeated Willie Monroe by UD.

I think Canelo's defensive skills have declined ever since he moved up to super middleweight shown in his third bout with Golovkin and relies too much on his power, I also think that Benavidez as a rangy tactical pressure fighter with power brings his own set of problems.

Not stating who would win, just that David deserves to fight Canelo as much as the rest of the former 168 World Champions.

I doubt Canelo-Benavidez gets made ever but if it does Benavidez beats the brakes off Canelo. I’m pissed that Eddie Hearn wasted so many good fights with Canelo on beating up on his European cronies so both parties make $$$.

Canelo made a boatload money off DAZN and Hearn but his 168lb unification run was pretty weak and we got to be honest with that. I just don’t know how these Canelo man fans are going to cope with his decline and exit of the sport.

It’s actually mind boggling that Canelo refuses to fight Benavidez because I strongly believe he would humiliate him.
He could not even humiliate a 40 year old MW last fight, and you think he does it to Benavidez? lol. Even Canelo disagrees with you clearly by ducking. That should bother you. He won't have a choice to stop Benavidez hitting him when his gas tank goes in round 5. Sitting duck, and Benavidez won't have the mercy Boring Bivol had. Canelo will end up in hospital.

Canelo has lost to every elite fighter he fought. Floyd and a past his prime GGG twice. Bivol isn't elite, just a very good fighter in Canelo's natural weight class, which is a bridge too far for Canelo. He needs to be able to bully guys because he has a ****ty gas tank and he can only fight in spurts.

Benavidez throws too many punches, has too much power and is too big for Canelo to ever want to chance it. Canelo is too busy "chasing greatness", ie getting his ass kicked by Bivol, talking about cruiserweight so he can seem "great", barely beating a geriatric GGG.
