I’ll translate for Arum: we all saw Catterall beat Taylor last time. I don’t know if Taylor was having a bad night or if Catterall is simply the better fighter. I can’t risk it. I’ll use my crooked influence over the WBO (We’re Bob’s Organization or Whatever Bob Orders) to make Lopez the mandatory. I know the WBO will pi$$ in Cateralls face if I want. I have no contract with Catterall, Taylor and Lopez are both under Top Rank, so no matter who wins, my company keeps the belt.

Breaks my heart, I've loved this sport since I was a kid, but it's getting harder to defend.
We all know which fights are the good ones. Belts don't matter as much. Same as MM, You have UFC, Bellator, and others. Yet they never fight each other.

Interesting opinion. The WBA champions break down like this.

        DAZN: 6 champions (hwt, 175, 168, 160, 126, and 122).

        PBC: 4 champions (154, 147, 140 and 130).

        Top Rank: 3 champions (135, 118, 112).

        Free Agents: 2 champions (115, 112).

        Freshmart (Thai promotion): 2 champions (108, 105).

        Acaries: 1 champion (cruiser weight).

With only 4 WBA champions, how is WBA/Haymon even in the same ballpark as WBO/Arum? If you would have said WBA/ DAZN you might have a case. Not everything negative in the boxing world is Haymons fault.

No doubt Taylor lost that fight with Catterall, but that was not anybody's fault but the home court judges. As much as Catterall deserves a rematch, I'd rather want to see Taylor vs Lopez at this point. This is far more entertaining from promotion to fight night.

" the teams for Lopez and Taylor were already in discussion about a fight well in advance of the WBO notice. "

So that would mean arum is blatantly lying (again), wouldn't it?!

What a coincidental move by WBO too!

If Catterall was Arum's fighter he would be suing and on a rampage. Bob will say anything and is shameless.

Catterall stepped aside for the unification and arguably won the Taylor fight. Now after so many postponements and inactivity he won't get his shot again.

So Taylor was never really injured?

You and I differ greatly. To me, there’s nothing more entertaining than a fighter that got robbed getting a well deserved second chance. If Teo had done something noteworthy lately, I could be swayed. He hasn’t.

We know that’s not true, and Bob like any promoter prefers a in-house big fight

Taylor just doesn’t fancy the rematch, whether it’s because the first fight was a loss really, or he can get bigger money elsewhere, it doesn’t really matter. All that matters is he doesn’t really want the rematch and has basically avoided it for a year now, one way or another.

I just think it’s a shame for a jacket Catterall because he should’ve been and undisputed champion and has now been messed around for a year. I at least hope he gets another good fight, he deserves it.

Well, he claims to be injured and he’s not going to be ready to fight until around June, but it’s probably a lie because we’re not far away from March now, so even if he was fighting around June he would probably start training in around the end of March/early April or something

so I doubt it’s a very serious injury. It’s probably not an injury at all. He’s just taking a bigger money fight and has to act injured for a month before training for it.

he did an interview yesterday and said that he’s not allowed to put any pressure on his foot at the moment. I’m not a doctor or anything but if you can’t put any pressure on your foot at all now, would you be okay to start full training and sparring in about four weeks time ? Doesn’t seem to add up.
