I liked the Reply for Cotto. He was a bad MFer who fought everyone. Can’t imagine how different his career could’ve been had he not got beaten down so bad with loaded gloves by Margacheato. Most fighters would never even come back from something like that.

It's not even a criticism, but more of an observation. While I'm not saying these are identical examples, Canelo going for Bivol is more comparable to Cotto going for Martinez, even though Martinez was older and looked more injury prone. Bivol hadn't looked impressive recently when he was picked as Canelo's opponent and wasn't even the favorite going in. It's easy to forget now, but Martinez was still the favorite over Cotto going into their fight.

Part of what makes Benavidez dangerous is that he's bigger and younger than Canelo, a very similar position Canelo was in when he wanted to fight Cotto. In Canelo's defense, he was a much bigger star than what Benavidez is now even back when he wanted to fight Cotto, but still, the similarities are there. I'm not trying to imply Canelo is afraid of Benavidez, I already said this in a previous post. But Cotto deserves credit for taking a very tough fight against Canelo even if Canelo brought good money to the table. The match up obviously benefitted Canelo in a similar manner, and for similar reasons, the match up between Canelo and Benavidez may benefit Benavidez right now.

I think they fight on Cinco De Mayo 2024. If Bivol beats him and Benavidez beats Plant better than Canelo did.

I don't think for 1 minute Canelo afraid.
Benavidez, along with dozens of other fighters are begging for a Canelo payday, why don't they fight each other in the meantime? That would include Bivol, Charlo, Benavidez, Andrade, Morrell, Berlanga and about 5 other guys who have called out Canelo

Benavidez is Canelo’s mandatory, and he is fighting Plant. Do you even watch boxing?

Bivol looked like a soft touch before the Canelo fight, that’s why he chose him. Bivol is a boxer, and it was at LHW so Canelo can just say “oh it was a step too far”

Benavidez is an absolute killer. He won’t box Canelo like Bivol. He will beat the crap out of him regardless if he wins or loses. His pressure and stamina is a disaster for Canelo and he’s his mandatory.

Money Mayweather is the culprit of the state of boxing in present time. I also think, allowing YouTubers and other unprofessional part time boxers the privilege to get in the squared circle is plain dumb and part of the reason why boxing is hella weak. But, the number one reason is money may and his unwillingness to ever… and I mean EVER risk his 0 vs the absolute , no doubt, best possible opponent available causing to view the “0” as a bigger asset on your status in the game then an L vs the best of the best. To put it simple, Mayweather put having an “0” soooooooooo damn high in the pedestal, and also combine that with Alllllll the damn money Floyd made partially due to the same “0” …. Is what has these champs of today or top stars with an “0” happily willing to be champs or boxing stars in recess smh

Great breakdown of Cotto’s resume. Cotto won me over after he beat Zab and Sugar Shane.

So Canelo is going to fight Bivol twice but people are still going to criticize him for not fighting Benavidez once?

The expectations are impossibly high for Canelo. No one else is held to these standards, and there are many fighters getting a pass for doing a lot less. Including Benavidez.
