  • Comments Thread For: Josh Taylor-Teofimo Lopez: WBO Orders Title Fight, Already In Talks

A rumored title fight will come with sanctioning body approval--along with a ticking clock to reach a deal. BoxingScene.com has confirmed that the previously discussed Josh Taylor-Teofimo Lopez junior welterweight championship was formally ordered by the WBO. A letter issued to Top Rank--promoter for both boxers--outlined the terms for what is now regarded as a mandatory title defense.

After Catterall Taylor looked ripe for the picking. If it weren't for Arum, Teo would never get these seemingly opportune unification fights.

Although I think that they are both ducks, I hope Teo knocks out Taylor in grand fashion. Taylor seems like he never had any real intention of the Catterall, but was going through the motions from the pressure and backlash he was receiving from the public. Teo, while he's also ducking Regis, doesn't make any decisions, that's more of Arum's and his father's doing. The only drawback from Lopez getting the KO would be adding to his father's delusion and nonstop chatter.

Poor Teo... His mental health doesn't fair good for that one ... Taylor by a landslide ...

I find it difficult to believe that Catteral doesn't have a contract that isn't going to scuttle this fight before it gets too far. I thought the fight was already signed and scheduled when Taylor suffered an injury.

If he doesn't have a contract his people failed him.

It's an interesting fight, but yeah.....they are both ducks. Especially Taylor. It looks like he strung Catterall along until he could weasel out of that fight.
