Wouldn't it be better to pay Ryder well to face his new upstart and see what he's really made of . Let Canelo fight a bigger name on Mexico's biggest boxing weekend ...or are we more likley going to see over matched quick KO's that everyone knows he produces at a lower level?.... I suspect the latter.

Padraig McCrory 16-0 (9 KO's), who's ranked # 17 in the 168 pound division makes perfect sense to me.
Some fans will say that they have never heard of McCrory, that Berlanga is cherry picking again.
I've never heard of him before, that I can remember anyway, but he's undefeated, and has some decent wins on his record.
I looked a little further into it, and McCrory just won the IBO World Championship at 175 pounds two fights ago, he's basically a light heavyweight now.
So I don't know how that work out in the grand scheme of things, as they are, as opposed to as it were.Comment

I don’t see the Canelo fight happening, so if that’s the reason he signed w Matchroom he’s going to be pretty disappointed. Should have gone w PBC. Much more realistic opponents there to mix it up with.
good luck to him though.Comment

Well done matchroom well done. Outstanding signing of a major American superstar by Eddie Hearn, who’s tireless efforts have produced a sterling reward in this signing . May both berlanga and Hearn reap the no doubt untold massive benefits of this signingComment

Berlanga would have been getting his a$$ kicked for less than a million at pbc by everybody at 168
Eddie will pay him the same purse to fight euro bums. Berlanga made the right choice.Last edited by Hustle; 02-14-2023, 11:42 AM.Comment

I think Benavidez is going to be exposed a little bit against Plant, ie winning a close decision, and the Canelo camp is going to regret not pushing for that fight earlier.Comment

I doubt Berlanga will get anywhere close to fighting Canelo - at least not for the big money he thinks he’ll get. Once Bivol beats Canelo even more decisively than he did in the first match, Canelo’s days as a major PPV draw will be over.Comment
