Comments Thread For: Golovkin-Lara: WBA Reorders Middleweight Title Consolidation Fight

Gennadiy Golovkin is once again on the hook to next face Erislandy Lara. BoxingScene.com has confirmed that the WBA has re-ordered a title consolidation clash between its recognized middleweight beltholders. The development came hours after BoxingScene's report that Golovkin vacated his IBF middleweight title in lieu of a mandatory title defense versus Brazil's Esquiva Falcao.

The next headline will read, "GGG vatates WBA title". Followed by another headline reading either "GGG retires", or "GGG vs Mungia scheduled for this Summer".

It's a tricky one, not sure Golovkin would be interested.

It's not the GGG of a few years ago, and it's not the Lara who looked pretty good against Canelo. I guess if GGG still wants to keep his belt, they'd have to make a deal to fight.

I still favour Golovkin, but maybe that's because I'm also in my forties.

This is actually a really good fight would love to see if Lara can out slick GGG. Doubt Lara would like the purse though.

Unnecessary risky fight for a payday that i cant imagine being worth the bother, G will more then likely vacate. Hes about maxing out his purses at this stage of his career, both well past it no doubt but can't see G risking another Loss and sending himself into potential retirement.

Haven't heard a peep from Lara and Decubas about this even when it was first ordered last year. Not a peep. It looked like they're hiding.

Bearing in mind that Lara has been desperately demanding this fight since time immemorial. And when he moved up to middleweight the first name he mentioned was Golovkin's. And that was just a few months ago.

It's also interesting to note that WBA is Decubas' home ABC body, whatever you call it, where he could easily capture one for his fighters.

What happened? What's the silence all about?

This one of the most frustrating part in this sport. Too many fighters get away with hiding behind Haymon's skirt calling out fights because they knew it will never happen. And their ultra biased fans run with saying Golovkin ducked Lara, a one-dimensional boxer who his fans bank on mostly for his ride-biking ability. A boxer who has zero inside skills.

Now that Golovkin is a free agent, there's no effort from these pretenders to make the fight happen.

It's not only Lara who have consistently called out Golovkin. There's also Jermall Charlo pretending to be angry that he can't get Golovkin, "Where the hell is GGG?" They stopped calling him out as soon as they learned he's now a free agent.

You don't have to take my word for it. Youtube is peppered with these call outs and you can check by just typing their names.

With how quiet G was since his loss to Canelo, I feel he might just retire.
