Didn’t ayala jr go to jail for **** and also took his first L by Yori boy campas?
he was old by then and the amazing thing is that he was in the fight after years in prison. I hate to give a POS like Ayala props, but he was the real deal.

straight up...guy has an intuitive sense for boxing, even though he was a scumbag. Wish we would have seen him at the world level against Duran

really? he was before my time since i was born in 2000 and havent really seen his fights. im looking at his wiki and obviously yea he didnt really beat any names, but im reading that he was a very talented boxer
It’s hard because we’re judging what could have been against what was. It’s similar when judging fellow sex offender Ike Ibeabuchi, although the Tua and Byrd wins give us a little more to work with. It’s a shame (in a boxing sense) we never got to see Ayala fight Davey Moore as that would have been a much better measuring stick, I’m pretty sure that fight was in the pipeline prior to Ayala getting arrested.
To answer the OP, I’d go with Canelo, Ayala could have been the next big thing but Canelo was the next big thing so I think he’s the safer bet in this scenario.
