Does Canelo Alvarez beat Ayala Jr at 154?

Both fighters who went pro at a young age......Tony Ayala with the power, handspeed, and stamina advantage vs Canelo.

    I got Ayala by UD.

Yes, he took his first L after over a decade out the ring. I'm talking about 20 year old Ayala

he was old by then and the amazing thing is that he was in the fight after years in prison. I hate to give a POS like Ayala props, but he was the real deal.

straight up...guy has an intuitive sense for boxing, even though he was a scumbag. Wish we would have seen him at the world level against Duran

It’s hard because we’re judging what could have been against what was. It’s similar when judging fellow sex offender Ike Ibeabuchi, although the Tua and Byrd wins give us a little more to work with. It’s a shame (in a boxing sense) we never got to see Ayala fight Davey Moore as that would have been a much better measuring stick, I’m pretty sure that fight was in the pipeline prior to Ayala getting arrested.

To answer the OP, I’d go with Canelo, Ayala could have been the next big thing but Canelo was the next big thing so I think he’s the safer bet in this scenario.

The truth is, we never saw him against an elite fighter, by the same token, everytime canelo has face a really good boxer, he struggled.
