Morell doesn't need to beat his next 8 opponents to face berlanga now. He has fought three undefeated fighters and hasn't face a boxer with losing record since his first fight. In his own division, he's on the top three and moving up. He's on a collision course with the winner of plant vs benavidez. What I don't like is his trainer, not because he's bad, but because he's too conservative.

Not sure Bob Arum was involved in the decision to let Berlanga go. He mostly shows up for fight week for photo ops and interviews nowadays. Brad Goodman and Todd DuBoef are taking care of the company's daily operations and are in charge of fighters development. But they've been working with Bob for years and it's a bad sign when they let a fighter go.
Although they probably jumped the gun when they let Adames go recently, and to a lesser extent Elvis Rodriguez, after just one loss.

You might be right, I'm not going to argue that point because Berlanga has got to get cracking, especially after 8 month's of inactivity.
I suspect that whoever he sign's with as his new promoter, they won't take such a dangerous fight any time soon.
I believe that he's going to wind up signing with Eddie Hearn, in order to have the best chance of getting a shot at the big money fight against Canelo.

Whoever he decides to sign with needs to protect there investment by putting him with a trainer that can sharpen the tools he already has, while introducing him to the technical skills that he is deficient in. They should bring in a team that offers the best sparring partners available, while caring and pushing him on the aspect of development. He must feel that they are confident in him, but also pulling him up to the level he desires to be successful.
