I personally can appreciate a masterful Floyd Mayweather Jr performance, but what about all of these casual fans he's bringing in?

Most of the people who I watched the fight with were casual fans, and they felt ripped off by his fight last Saturday, as well as almost everyone else I've spoken to.

So while Mayweather might be doing bigger numbers at the box office, I think that Pacquiao is doing more to draw fans in and keep them in, based on the excitement of his fights.
The casual fan is most the time tainted by a floyd hater, and lead to believe that what they r witnessing is not a masterpiece. Even HBO commentators do it, and that more than anything erks me. Just keep in mind that floyd is a pure boxer not a stand and trade guy.
But most if not all the people I watched the fight with and have spoken to loved it. Even casual fans say floyd can box his ass off.

There's a lot of jealousy of Floyd. Not sure why. The guy worked to get where he is.

When Calzaghe who is not American fought here, his PPV numbers are dismal. But Pacquiao even though he came from a small country, still pulled in good numbers.
It goes to show that Americans are ******... wasting money on something that has no value... hahahaha...
Look at the wars that they went into... Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan... now look at their economy.... and they all lost that war...
They should just watch it at sopcast.... Americans aint that smart as you can see...

Unfortunately, I don't agree with that assessment. I believe Floyd contributed to the numbers without a doubt but Floyd didn't make the majority of those numbers. Those numbers came from the fans supporting his opponents hoping that his opponents would defeat the P4P fighter. Floyd doesn't have that type of fan base. ODLH, Hatton and Gatti were responsible for the huge turnouts vs Floyd. What that does tell me is that Floyd is the perfect Joker to Batman. But where would Joker be without Batman...probably just clowning around...hmmm...oh yeah that's when PBJ jumped into WWE business.

Doesn't change the fact that the fight did much better than others had predicted.

I was genuinely saddened to see ROach and Arum trying to tank this fight. I expect that from Dana White. But not from people in the boxing community.

Roach just has shady ethics to me. Which is why the steroids issue in the Wild Card gym raises questions in my (and others') mind about EVERYBODY who trains in Wild Card.

Say what you want about Golden Boy. You don't see them trying to tank TR or DKP or GTP fights.

Your post mnakes zero sense. With all due respect. Gatti never had a PPV without Floyd. Why not? And the Judah fight sold more than the Gatti fight. Are you saying that Judah was the draw?

                  Clarify.Please

This is how Floyd sold the Gatti fight:

                      Vs Hatton
                      Mayweather: 950K
                      Pacquiao: 825K

You got to understand how the trend goes... Manny got increasing popular after fighting dela hoya.... One can point out that boxing isn't what it use..There's a lot of factors that come into play like better technology where people bootleg ppv fights more efficiently or you can argue that boxing died a bit, and has a tremendous competition with UFC. You got to put all the factors together before you make an assessment and conclusion. I want to put an emphasis on that hatton fight because that's when Manny last fight and where he got some followers of his own and that could still be increasing. To do that much in the time like this i think is unbelievable. The only way to determine as to who attracts more buys is to fight them with same fighter, same amount of following, and at exact same time-line- which is almost impossible to do.

Another false analysis would be comparing the fight with Cotto vs Hatton against Mayweather vs Marquez because those are two different fighters with different number of followers, popularity and other factors like i mentioned before. What would happened if that fight do more than 1m buys? would that change your mind as to which person attracts the most in sales/buys.

I think you should do a little more research before making your comparison. Nice try!
