The gate exceeds EVERY Pacquio fight except Delahoya.

The PPV buys would exceed EVERY Pacquiao fight bar none.

IDK if those numbers are true or not but if they are then thats amazing because you have to rememeber that all sales arent the same. This PPV was extremely high so that shouldve made it alot less sales right there but they would make it up in cash. If he has that many sales with the high prices then that would be like 1.75 for a regular priced PPV, and thats not even including theater stuff which also took sales away and those prices were jacked way up compared to last time also

      so much about 1,7-1,8
not really surprised. the fight hasn't sparked enough general interest. those 1,4 are just common ppv buyers. the gate was excellent though. 700$ per ticket average, and they still had over 13.000 visitors.

The Nevada Commission confirmed the gate revenues.

        FLOYD MAYWEATHER vs. VICTOR ORTIZ
        MGM, Golden Boy, PPV 09/17/11

        13,364 tickets, $ 9,000,000.00 revenue.

The PPV buys are an ESTIMATE FROM A FRIEND A NOT CONFIRMED. But she has been pretty reliable in the past within 100K or so.

When everyone was saying 600K for Marquez, She told me "no. expect a big number. About 2x the forecast".

Well, if 1.4 is "common", how come nobody else is doing those numbers?

1.45 Mn (if accurate) would translate to about $92 million in PPV revenues.

And when you do all the math, that means Floyd makes in the neighborhood of $55 million.

If it's more than 1.45 Mn, it wouldn't surprise me. She only has visibility to cable. They take a best guess at the Dish nums.

I'm sure a lot of Mayweather's sales come from people who want to see him lose or get knocked out. That's the only reason my friends and i order his fights.

Yeah...a couple bucks is not going to bother us. We all appreciate his skill and generally agree he is a great boxer though. I think the reason most people want to see him lose is because of his arrogance and behavior. I’m pretty sure he’s really not that bad in real life, but his uses this money may “character” to make a lot of money. And cong**** to him for that.

See I can respect this. FINALLY, it seems someone understands Mayweather's strategy. Being the humble nice guy only gets you so far, so he plays the bad guy "Money Mayweather" character to make people hate him. Then those very people pay to see him lose, then he wins, and the cycle is repeated and he collects check after check.

If Mayweather stayed humble like he was early in his career he wouldn't have ANYTHING to sell and he wouldn't be the boxing star that he is today.

Look at ALL the Mayweather topics on NSB. The ratio of Mayweather threads to other boxer threads on NSB is astounding. Mayweather is doing something right.
