To you and all the other die-hard Floyd Mayweather hardcore fans, I'm sure it sounds like some excuses. But dig a little deeper and you'll see for yourself that its true.

What factors account for Floyd doing 2x what Pac did with Oscar

Please lay out what circumstances you are referring to.

correct, if you are alludding to the fact mayweather is homegrown and has had more exposure with casual fans since 1995 as well as piggy-backed hatton and oscar then i agree with you, pacquiao on the other hand has only been exposed to a wider arena of boxing fans excluding filipinos when he made his heralded "debut" against MAB in 2003, after that he faced mostly mexican fighters such as JMM, ERIK, MAB, LARIOS etc..
the majority of the fans hes been exposed towards to has been mexican and it wasn't until he faced ricky hatton and oscar oh.. and cotto with this PR fan base which is made up of tito and cotto fans..that he widen his whole appeal with british fans as well as the oscar dela hoya fan's who can be said are basically the backbone and biggest fanbase in boxing when it comes to PPV
there's no doubt if pacquiao had grew up in the U.S and enjoyed the popularity that he has now earlier and he would because he was already an entertainement dynamo 10 years ago ( look up his fights), he would be raking in PPVS much larger than oscar alone base on the high entertainment value he presents
there's no doubt if it was pac who faced the fighters that may faced during the time may faced them where it's a mirrored perfect fight pattern, pac would probably be bigger may too. most likely

at the end of the day, everyone hates may and everyone likes pacquiao.. except *****s.. what a sad pathetic bunch and that alone will determine the rise of pac's popularity and ppv draw towards infinity lmaoow

            Oscar-Pac was a mismatch.

Oscar-Floyd was a fight between the most popular boxer in the world against the number 1 p4p. they were also around the same weight, unlike pac and oscar.

For example (there are many), the general consensus was that Pacquiao didn't stand a chance to beat Oscar and that the fight was a mismatch. Meanwhile, Floyd vs Oscar was expected to be a competitive fight.

Did anyone give Marquez a chance to beat Mayweather? Yet, that fight far exceeded expectations. Most Tyson fights were perceived to be a foregone conclusion. Yet, they consistently sold.

In fact, Floyd sold almost as much with Marquez as Pac sold with Oscar.

Think about the difference between Oscar and marquez.

You asked for different circumstances with the same opponent, I gave you an example of one of the many, and you changed the topic to a different opponent. There are many different circumstances between Pac vs Oscar and Floyd vs Marquez as well. The fact that they were both perceived to be a mismatch is just 1 similar circumstance.

Floyd fought JMM after he beat Oscar. Floyd became a very big draw after he beat Oscar. So did Pacquiao.

This is the problem with arguing with people who will hop from one thing to another endlessly. The debate will never end until I get tired of arguing.

you can believe whatever you want man. If you don't think the different circumstances impacted the PPv sales between Pac vs Oscar and Floyd vs Oscar, that's your prerogative.

I understand that Pacquiao is a third-grade dropout, and can barely read. But Roach talks A LOT for Pac.
yeah i missed those for sure i hardly check but just hear about floyd talking all over the place. but it seems only recently pacquio's crew has been promoting well due to pacquios recent success I believe. There is no question that floyd has made more money. I may be wrong here but my point is that if both did the same promotional work throughout their career pacman would have generated more money. wonder if you or anyone agrees
